Arguably the best price/performance Surface Laptop on the market in the cool Sapphire Blue color, featuring the Snapdragon X 10-core processor. This is not the highest spec processor, but in the 13.8" model is actually better than the X elite due to throttling and battery life - you need to get the 15" surface laptop for the X elite to make any sense... BENCHMARKS:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l6xqZexZVg [youtube.com]- The 10-core Snapdragon Plus CPU has little real world performance difference vs the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite. They both use the same GPU, and the extra 2 cores isn't significantly noticeable as the 12-core one throttles more. On the other hand, the 8-core Snapdragon in the Surface 13 model is much slower than this one as the GPU is half as powerful. Qualcomm has announced the Elite X2 which will be available in Q1 2026 next-gen surface, but likely at $300 more than this price for similar featureset.
- The application compatibility and performance has drastically improved since launch a year ago, especially with the introduction of AVX/AVX2 extensions
- SSD is upgradable but requires removal of the back cover with a Torx screwdriver. Note there is no SDXC slot in this model, but it has 1x USB A and 2x USB-C - plus a dedicated charging/dock port
- The LCD screen Microsoft used for this model is excellent in fidelity and accuracy
- Lowest price ever on Amazon for the cool blue color!

But I might just hold onto my box unopened for a bit to see if this one drops to $1000: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CXL21K6M/
I need around 2TB of space, but I could supplement the 1TB with an SDXC card for memory in the 15" (the 13.8" doesn't have a slot) instead of installing an $150 2TB SSD in the 13.8". Also, the 15" has the cooling and battery size that actually can make the 12-core X Elite upgrade worthwhile, unlike the 13.8" where it is more of a detriment than an improvement.
Guess it depends about the screen size vs portability factor in the end, since the net price will end up around only a little more for the 15" + SD vs 13.8" + SSD if price does drop on the 15".
