Apple silicon is a different level entirely. Higher performance, lower thermals and longer battery life. It's not really close.

I cannot overstate just how brutally better this machine is than yours in every single way.
Processor? Giant leap.
Battery life? Giant leap.
Heat? None.
GPU? Much faster.
Speakers? The volume and base feels unreal for the size.
Screen? Literally night and day. MUCH brighter and performs way better with local dimming on dark scenes.

Plus it also has better mics, actual ports, and MagSafe.

A few reasons this is an EXCELLENT deal:

M1 Pro longevity: The 10-core M1 Pro chip remains fast even compared to the M3 Pro in many sustained workloads. You're still getting ~12 performance cores' worth of efficiency in a fan-cooled chassis that barely throttles.

32 GB unified memory: That's the upgrade most people didn't spring for, so it's rarer and holds its usefulness longer. RAM is soldered, so this spec has better long-term value.

Display quality: The mini-LED XDR panel on this model is identical to the one on the current M3 Pro 16″ — Apple hasn't improved it much.

Port selection: MagSafe 3, HDMI, and SDXC — same as today's models. No practical I/O difference.

macOS support: Officially supported well into the 2030s. Apple silicon Macs are getting 7–8 years of major macOS updates, possibly more.

Decent price and should be supported with security updates until around 2030. It would be hard to find a laptop with this horsepower for the price. The 16GB version is also a good deal.

I have 2019 version with i9, 32gb and 1TB, not sure if I should upgrade? I still like old style than new M1 design. $658 is very good price.

This is very tempting. The unified memory is a game changer for messing with LLMs and other VRAM Heavy tasks once you free it up in the terminal

This is a 5yr old used computer with an old battery. Not bad but unless you need the 32gb you be better off buying a newer air or if you don't need MacOS a PC

I bought the exact same specifications from someone on Swappa 4 months ago for $620. The battery life was 93% having 32gb of memory is great if you want to leave a bunch of tabs open. Have not had an issue and it has so much power I just leave it on energy savor so I do not have to charge it that often.

M1 Pro is a hair faster in practice than M4, M5 is faster but not in a giant way.

Wow this is an amazing machine for like 25% of the original list price of $2,899 when these released. Going to upgrade from my current 2022 MacBook Air M2 with this beast!
