TCL 55" Q6 QLED 4K Google TV (55Q651G) — $248 @ Walmart

Store: Walmart
Model: 55Q651G (2024 Q6 Series)
Shipping: Free

Link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/TCL-55...5378490187

Why this is a deal
  • QLED (quantum dot) panel at a true budget price.
  • Supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ (rare at this price).
  • Google TV with voice remote; huge app library + easy casting.
  • Solid "budget gamer" features: ALLM + "Game Accelerator 120" (120-Hz at lower resolutions), plus TCL Motion Rate interpolation.

Key specs (from TCL)
  • 4K UHD • QLED PRO (quantum dot) • High Brightness+ backlight
  • HDR PRO+: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG
  • Game Accelerator 120, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM)
  • Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual:X, Enhanced Dialogue Mode
  • 3× HDMI (1× eARC), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth
  • OS: Google TV

Price check / listing
  • Walmart currently shows $248 for the 55Q651G (YMMV by region/stock).

Manage expectations
  • Native panel is 60 Hz; "120" is via Game Accelerator at 1080p (not native 120 Hz at 4K).
  • No local dimming (direct-lit budget set), so dark-room contrast/halo control won't match mini-LED models.

Versus Samsung Crystal U7900F (~$278)
  • TCL Q6 wins on color & HDR (QLED + Dolby Vision and HDR10+).
  • Samsung lacks Dolby Vision and leans more SDR.
  • At ~$248, the Q6 is the better buy for movies/streaming and casual gaming.

Warranty / returns
  • 1-year limited warranty (TCL).
  • Walmart return policy applies (check your store/receipt).

Bottom line
Under $300, this is an easy recommend for Dolby Vision + Google TV + QLED color at a doorbuster price.

I doubt you will see a 55" QLED 120Hz option from any manufacturer at this price.

It is 120hz at 1080p, not at 4k

I would avoid this tv unless you are putting it in a dark room.

From rtings:

The TCL Q6 is sub-par for mixed usage. It's inadequate for a dark room since it has poor black levels. It's also not a good choice when you turn all of your lights on during the day since its SDR brightness is unremarkable, and it struggles with reflections caused by glare. The TV is at its best in a moderately lit environment. Colors are okay overall, but since it lacks local dimming and doesn't get very bright, it struggles with showing both dark and bright colors, which limits the vibrancy of colors in most content. If you're looking for a cheap gaming TV, it's not a terrible choice thanks to its ability to do up to 1440p @ 120Hz with VRR. Unfortunately, its awfully slow pixel transitions mean motion is blurry when gaming, which is a huge drawback. Its viewing angle is mediocre, so it's not a good option for wide seating arrangements.

At this price point... there's nothing better though. If you can go up $100 for the same size, you can get the TCL QM5K, which has miniLED and a bit brighter, but if someone is going for a basic TV at this size and wants it under $300 brand new... nothing better. LG would be an IPS display with way worse black levels and contrast; Samsung would be Edge lit with worse life expectancy and uneven black levels. Sony? Good luck at finding anything of value, if anything in this price point. Hisense would be next bet, but just my opinion, FireTV is a terrible OS, and if you hate ads, enabling "Apps Only mode" on a Google TV is the closest you get to minimzing ads on ANY platform-- webOS, TizenOS, FireTV, Roku have more ads and sponsored content than Google TV in Apps Only mode.
