Community Reviews
The ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 stands out as a compact work laptop with a strong keyboard, upward firing speakers, built in RJ 45 Ethernet, and a sharp 2.8K OLED adaptive refresh display. The 64GB memory and 1TB storage feel generous for Windows 11 and future heavier software, even if that much RAM is more than most workloads need today. The main drawbacks are the 52Wh battery, which is called out as the weak point, and the OLED panel, which can mean more flicker, burn in risk, and shorter battery life than the low power LCD option. It is a capable portable workstation if the screen and battery tradeoffs fit your use.
people who want a ThinkPad for daily work where they care about the keyboard, upward-firing speakers, and having a built-in RJ-45 Ethernet port because commenters say the P14s Gen 6 is better for those day-to-day features.
software developers and AI workers who specifically need Windows 11 headroom and plan to keep the machine for a while because one commenter says the 64GB is a nice Windows 11 buffer and speculates AI-written software could be more memory-hungry.
buyers who will use the laptop with a WWAN/5G card for "instant internet everywhere" because a commenter added a 5G WWAN card (plug and play) and said it was a game changer for connectivity on the go.
buyers who need strong battery life for heavy use because multiple commenters call the ~52Wh battery "pretty brutal" and say they only saw about 2.5-3 hours with full brightness and WWAN on.
people hoping to add WWAN later as an after-market upgrade without checking compatibility because commenters warn it's a bad idea unless the machine is WWAN-ready (antennas/heat sinks are integrated), and that most US ThinkPads aren't set up for it.
people who sit in front of their PC for long sessions and are sensitive to eye strain because one commenter argues OLED on these ThinkPads is a poor choice for extended desk use due to PWM dimming and potential eye strain, plus burn-in/static desktop concerns.
buyers who want a 14-inch screen for software development and AI work because one commenter says 14 inch is too small for their needs and is hoping for a 16-inch version instead.

And 64 RAM, you're not wrong but programs and Windows are only getting more memory hungry, not less...
I'm comparing with Costco deal on IdeaPad pro 5i for $999.99 .

Comparing both turn out Costco Deal is better apart from 32GB less memory for extra $200....I like 14 inch but 16 OLED give so much real estate..

I've also heard bad things about the MediaTek card they use.
Other than these gripes, ThinkPads are usually a great option for Linux.

Arguably this screen is hands down better than macpros I'm currently using.
If anyone purchases a WWAN card it will set you back about $250-300ish but worth it!!! (Unless you find a great deal on oneš¤£)
I was seeing about 2.5-3hrs of battery under different/heavy usage with full brightness And WWAN on (and only charged to 80%). As everyone has mentioned the battery is the Achilles heel but definitely manageable if charging to 100% and utilizing power saving measures
