This ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 looks like a portable workstation built around a sharp 4K OLED touch screen, 64GB of memory, and a large battery for business, development, and travel use. The Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 is described as efficient rather than fast, but the integrated graphics and x86 compatibility fit legacy apps, Linux, and memory heavy workloads well. The main drawbacks are the lack of a dedicated GPU, no second M.2 slot, and some concern about hybrid graphics stability and battery life. The price also looks only fair versus earlier lower listings, making it a solid niche machine if those tradeoffs fit.
Common Questions (4)
It is positioned as a capable efficiency-focused chip, but not a high-end performance part like Threadripper. The integrated graphics are strong for an iGPU, yet this model is still better suited to x86 compatibility, lots of RAM, and battery life than heavy GPU workloads.
Yes, it is described as a strong fit for software development, especially for users who want x86 compatibility, lots of memory, and a high-end screen. Linux is planned as an immediate install on this model, which suggests it is a practical dev machine.
No second M.2 slot is mentioned for this configuration, so storage upgrades may require replacing the existing drive rather than adding a second SSD. That makes the 1TB SSD less flexible if you want a larger internal upgrade later.
Yes, but hybrid graphics can crash on some systems, and keeping the Nvidia GPU on all the time increases power use and reduces battery life. If stability matters more than battery, running the dGPU continuously is the safer setup.

Tempting deal for me to come from a 5-year old Legion 5 which still runs fine, but since it sometimes crashed when running in the hybrid video mode (where it switches between integrated and dedicated video), I keep the Nvidia on all the time at the expense of increased power consumption/worse battery life.
Great screen, large battery and lots of ram but relatively weak processor and no dedicated gpu.
I guess that is why it is on sale

ThinkPad is one of the oldest and most iconic lines of laptops, originally designed and sold by IBM in the 90es (that's in the previous century). These are portable workstations for business/corporate users, who don't need a dedicated GPU, but expect a nice screen and have higher memory requirements than a typical meedia consumption device. These laptops are extremely durable, reliable and can take a beating of frequent travel. NASA astronauts used them in spaceships for research and calculations, IBM used to donate them to archeologists working in the field as a promotion. These laptops have been a staple in large companies for many years, until HP and Dell decided to get into the corporate market, but ThinkPads are still going strong, Lenovo kept up the quality of this line after buying the laptop business from IBM.
So basically the people who are getting this need x86, great screen, lots of memory, and great battery life which is a small niche

- highest resolution screen on.
- 64GB of LPDDR5x soldered or LPCAMM2 RAM
- Ryzen AI 360 (it's the 350 but more GPU cores)
