This appears to be an even better deal for the same configuration that was posted on 10/27/2025 for $1429. I wish these had a second slot for M.2 SSD; otherwise I'd probably immediately swap out for higher storage.
Tempting deal for me to come from a 5-year old Legion 5 which still runs fine, but since it sometimes crashed when running in the hybrid video mode (where it switches between integrated and dedicated video), I keep the Nvidia on all the time at the expense of increased power consumption/worse battery life.

I don't get who this laptop is for.

Great screen, large battery and lots of ram but relatively weak processor and no dedicated gpu.

I guess that is why it is on sale

I didn't place an order then, and I expect the price to drop to around $1,100 during Black Friday. That would be a decent deal, though not particularly great, considering it was about $1,200 last time.

As a trader who doesn't need a dedicated gpu since most of my stuff is older legacy apps (5-20 year old tech) that is RAM intensive this is a perfect use case for a travel rig.

Great processor, AI processor, and the best integrated graphics short of Strix Point. I hope you aren't expecting Threadripper in this box. Right now, that is about $500-6oo in memory in this box.

ThinkPad is one of the oldest and most iconic lines of laptops, originally designed and sold by IBM in the 90es (that's in the previous century). These are portable workstations for business/corporate users, who don't need a dedicated GPU, but expect a nice screen and have higher memory requirements than a typical meedia consumption device. These laptops are extremely durable, reliable and can take a beating of frequent travel. NASA astronauts used them in spaceships for research and calculations, IBM used to donate them to archeologists working in the field as a promotion. These laptops have been a staple in large companies for many years, until HP and Dell decided to get into the corporate market, but ThinkPads are still going strong, Lenovo kept up the quality of this line after buying the laptop business from IBM.

Cool marketing bro, this is NOT the same laptop as the ones specifically designed for NASA and it's no longer 1995 but thanks for the Chinese brand Lenovo plug.

this is the same chip used in 500-600 dollar budget laptops it isn't exactly anything amazing. Sure it has decent efficency so if you just need a laptop to last a really really long time then this is decent but still probably falls short of arm chips.

So basically the people who are getting this need x86, great screen, lots of memory, and great battery life which is a small niche

It's a great laptop for software development, which is what I'm going to use it for. Going to LInux it right away obviously.

In case Lenovo is listening, I will buy this now if you change the following:
- highest resolution screen on.
- 64GB of LPDDR5x soldered or LPCAMM2 RAM
- Ryzen AI 360 (it's the 350 but more GPU cores)
