I might be a bad use case since this drive isn't anywhere near full and mostly used for OS, application, and some games...However, I'm still getting around the advertised speeds of ~7300 MB/s read and ~6400 MB/s write after nearly 3 of use

You can follow these instructions from a Reddit post covering the process to update the firmware. It was a fairly painless process.

That said, if you can snag a deal for a Samsung 990 Pro, Crucial T500, or WD Black SN850X, for around this price or slightly more, I'd say that would likely be the better find than this drive. However, even if the write speeds do drop, I doubt most people would notice that unless they are doing extremely heavy writing tasks like video or photo editing.
Over time the cache fills and semi-permanently drops the write speed below gen 3 levels. SK Hynix put out a firmware update to "fix" this bug, but it doesn't work long term.
I have the P44 from Solidigm which is fundamentally the same drive

The SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB is a fast PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive that stands out for strong read and write speeds, DRAM, and solid everyday use as an OS, apps, games, or secondary drive. Firmware updates reportedly helped some drives keep near advertised performance, and long-term gaming use has stayed around 6500 MB per second for some installs. The main concern is a cache-related write slowdown that can return over time, with a few reports of instability or random reboots when used as a primary drive. It also runs fairly warm under heavy writes, so a heatsink helps.
Common Questions (4)
The P41 has a reported cache-related write-speed drop that can reduce sustained writes to around 2GB/s or lower over time. A firmware update was released to address it, and some drives stay near the advertised speeds after long use, but others reportedly see the problem return or never fully resolve it.
Several comments say this drive has been around $119 to $129 for roughly two years, with Walmart listings even showing similar pricing. That makes $115 more of a normal street price than a standout bargain.
It can work as a primary drive, but there are reports of random shutdowns, reboots, and occasional NVMe controller disconnects on some systems. As a secondary drive, the risk appears lower because the caching issue is less likely to destabilize the system.
Yes, a heatsink is recommended for PS5 use because the drive runs fairly hot under heavy writes. A simple M.2 heatsink plate is enough, and the drive's DRAM is a plus compared with DRAM-less alternatives at similar prices.

it's a real shame. the p31 was one of the best gen3 drives you could buy and the p41 looked like it would be the same

I checked and as of today the files the reddit user mentions are still available for download from the manufacturer and for what it's worth my security software says "yep these files are legit "
It's in my Zenbook 14 and it causes the laptop to shut down and reboot randomly. This is with the firmware update.
I'm assuming it just stays as "slow" as a secondary drive, but as my primary, it's terrible

I also saw similar reports from other users, so there could be differences in production runs.
The issue at hand here is that there is are several inherent risks when purchasing this drive. It's not to say all users will experience the same thing, but all users are at a risk of one or more undesirable outcomes.
