I might be a bad use case since this drive isn't anywhere near full and mostly used for OS, application, and some games...However, I'm still getting around the advertised speeds of ~7300 MB/s read and ~6400 MB/s write after nearly 3 of use

You can follow these instructions from a Reddit post covering the process to update the firmware. It was a fairly painless process.

That said, if you can snag a deal for a Samsung 990 Pro, Crucial T500, or WD Black SN850X, for around this price or slightly more, I'd say that would likely be the better find than this drive. However, even if the write speeds do drop, I doubt most people would notice that unless they are doing extremely heavy writing tasks like video or photo editing.
Over time the cache fills and semi-permanently drops the write speed below gen 3 levels. SK Hynix put out a firmware update to "fix" this bug, but it doesn't work long term.
I have the P44 from Solidigm which is fundamentally the same drive

The SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB is a fast PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive that stands out for strong read and write speeds, DRAM, and solid everyday use as an OS, apps, games, or secondary drive. Firmware updates reportedly helped some drives keep near advertised performance, and long-term gaming use has stayed around 6500 MB per second for some installs. The main concern is a cache-related write slowdown that can return over time, with a few reports of instability or random reboots when used as a primary drive. It also runs fairly warm under heavy writes, so a heatsink helps.
The drive can sustain near-rated read and write speeds for gaming use on a secondary drive.
The firmware update can help prevent write-speed drop for some workloads.
Using an M.2 heatsink plate can help manage heat when the SSD runs hot under heavy writing.
The fast-write cache can fill over time and drop write speeds below Gen 3 levels.
The firmware fix may not work long term and write performance degradation can return after weeks.
The SSD can cause random laptop shutdowns and reboots when used as a primary drive.

I also saw similar reports from other users, so there could be differences in production runs.
The issue at hand here is that there is are several inherent risks when purchasing this drive. It's not to say all users will experience the same thing, but all users are at a risk of one or more undesirable outcomes.
Example PS5 heatsink: https://www.amazon.com/SABRENT-He...QQWCL?th=1
"The main issue with the SK Hynix Platinum P41 SSD is write performance degradation, where write speeds drop significantly over time because the drive's fast-write cache does not clear properly. A firmware update (version 51061A20) was released to fix this, but on Reddit, some users reported that the problem returned after a few weeks or the update was ineffective for them. Another potential, though less common, issue is occasional NVMe controller disconnects that cause a full system crash, requiring a power cycle to resolve."
I'm in both camps, lucky me.
5500+ hours ON. Still 6500MB/s using for games on secondary drive with the original firmware. The main drive is a XPG S11 Pro 11000+ Hours ON.
No BSOD issues. Maybe a lucky one.
5500+ hours with power ON. Firmware from factory was 51061A20 and still have 6500MB/s speeds. I'm using it for gaming as a secondary drive.
Looks like the link doesn't work. But, Copy and paste works lol

This is companies doing corporate greed price gouging tactics.
This should be on clearance given its not gen5.
It's crazy how effectively the PC building market was made to be a victim of stockholm syndrome.

The two best companies IMHO are Samsung and Intel (in the day)...
SK Hynix has purchased Intel's SSD business (9 BILLION). I am not happy with Samsung for other product issues, I am not happy with Samsung regarding their customer service (again, about other products).
Today... WesternDigital Black is also considered Amazing and I believe Corsair's high end gen 4 has gotten the fewest complaints of all of these M.2's.
The issue with this drive is possible throttling on extremely large writes... to me, that is no big deal, cause while I may do about 100 a year... I could live with the throttle.
He gave you the completely wrong heatsink....
