This 6.5 quart HDX tote is a compact, stackable bin that works best for small parts and other tightly grouped items. It fits everything from electrical and plumbing hardware to cables, drill bits, medicine cabinet items, makeup, and craft supplies, and the clear version makes contents easy to see from the sides. The plastic is described as thicker and stronger than cheaper Sterilite bins, but the small size, space inefficient shape, and lids that can crack or buckle under weight are the main drawbacks. It is a handy little organizer if the capacity is enough.

  • The lids can crack easily and buckle under weight, which can limit stacking reliability.

  • The 6.5-qt capacity can be too small for practical storage beyond small items.

  • The tote shape can be space-inefficient and not suitable for tight stacking in storage areas.

  • The plastic may off-gas a noticeable odor for weeks after purchase when the bin is reopened.

The site said they had well over 100 in the pickup location. Ordered a few and they cancelled my order, said they were "unexpectedly out of stock."

Definitely thicker and stronger plastic than crap Sterilite puts out nowadays.
Bought some and compared them to the Sterilites - noticeably thicker and the shape/structure makes them stronger as well. Time will tell whether the composition of the plastic is more durable and resistant to cracking. I certainly wouldn't leave anything plastic out in the sun for extended periods of time.

Our use case - we "car camp" at our remote property, store our gear in our pole barn, and the large Costco versions of these containers keep rodents out of gear. This size will be more handy for smaller items. We're also testing those 4-pack plastic "ammo" cases sold by Costco, about $5 each vs these at $2.50 each. (We never keep food in the pole barn, even when camping at the property.)

It's a decent price, and I've bought this exact one before (yellow top, semi-transparent bin). The only real issue I had with it was that it was off-gassing for WEEKS. Seriously it was amazing how long a small bit of plastic could stink for. It smelled fine (minimally noticable) when closed - not at all noticable. As soon as you open it again after having it sealed for a while though... Oh boy.

This may be YMMV. I am seeing $3.13.
