thanks for posting this OP Smilie .. normally I'd say you could use a deal like this to put together a cheap PC for say a family member or friend who needs something Win 11 compatible and who currently has an older PC... those increased DRAM prices are the problem ... I got curious and looked at this

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-VE...115&sr=1-1

currently $120 at amazon which is crazy given camelcamelcamel says normal price is around $70.. or I'm guessing it was before they (someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong Smilie ) stopped bothering to make ddr4 ram and started concentrating on ddr5 ram only.

I've seen deals on older model AM4 cpu's on slickdeals so that's good Smilie .. if you're okay with a mechanical drive for file storage there WAS this 6 GB seagate Ironwolf for $110 (that sold out pretty quickly Smilie ) and this current deal for an m2 drive ... if you upgrade the firmware but there's been some controversy about it as an m2 drive due to the issues mentioned in the comments

AI and cloud computing data centers are causing prices to spike. I think MSI was just selling this same motherboard with 16GB RAM for $100 last week.

You know I suspected that but it's nice to have someone else confirm it Smilie .. yep I heard that too, AI centers are hungrily buying up hardware (apparently hard drives especially but other stuff too)
