depends on your media source... movies are "designed" to look best at 24fps. TV and streaming are typically 30fps. Some BD, PC, PS5, or XsX can do 120hz, but for most people, 60hz is just fine. Especially on a freakin' 86" $700 TV.

Aren't movies supposed to look better or smoother at 120/144hz because it is a multiple of 24?

in my opinion no. you get a weird camcorder effect - it removes all the frame effect design that is supposed to be there. Every frame of a film is obsessively curated by the director and editors... if boosting the frame rate made it better, they would have done that for the release. Built in TV processing simply cannot make movies magically better than the director/editor made them. The only subject matters that I personally like viewing in high refresh rates is live sports and video games.

Dude, its an 86" TV for $700. Thats what you're getting in 2025. You want 120, for your living room, pay the price.

Does anyone know what the ratings are on this TV?
I typically check them on RTings.com but, and perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find this particular model.

I have zero issues with 60 hz since the tv in my sunroom it only used to view youtube videos for karaoke. I also have zero movies downloaded thats 120z or any concent and I don't watch live sports, or do i even know if the live broadcast sports would be in 120hz. I actually have never liked 120hz movies they look extremely weird to me.

Does anyone have this? Fits my budget and size but curious about the blacks/contrast. Not looking for oled/high theater look but not trying to have washed out blacks either

This is also 698 at walmart, so no need for Sams membership. There is a ~49.97 shipping charge.

The comparable TV on Rtings (Vizio Quantum QLED) has a 1.8 contrast rating, so take that as you may.

Also called the "soap opera effect". A friend spent the extra money on the XD version of the Hobbit when it was in theaters, and he described it like watching a play. So instead of cinematic action, it looks "too real"... in a bad way.
