Would like to try this in an 80Gbps enclosure on usb4. Not sure what the bottleneck would be.

pcie 3x4 = ~3.938 GB/s
usb4 40Gbps = ~5 GB/s
pci3 4x4 = ~7.877 GB/s
usb4 80Gbps = ~10 GB/s
pcie 5x4 = ~15.754 GB/s
So you're missing out by 58% or losing 37%. Probably more considering the cooling pcie5 needs, then again if you're not stressing it too much it probably won't heat up as much.

Probably way overkill for a home NAS run by a N100 Mini PC, yes?

I have an n150 Nas with a few Lexar NM790's. I've been waiting for them to get down to around $210 or so to get a few more, but they are currently listed at $290. These would certainly be overkill based on the limitations of the N150, but I may keep an eye on these and pick up a few if the others don't drop soon.
