The 406H is definitely the one I'd get if I didn't have one already. It can play up to PS2 and GC in native format nicely. While the 556 could also play the same, it's wider aspect and larger size it's a bit unwieldy for portable play. That said, it has a nice AMOLED screen if you care about but the controls aren't as nice as the 406H.

Got a Miyoo Mini Plus a few months back for about $5 more than this. Great little unit... the card that comes with it is trash though and mine didn't even work. If you look on the Internet Archives there is something called "Done Set 3" and it is a huge collection of roms specifically curated for the Miyoo... Very very easy to choose what you want and just load up a new card with it. Comes with all the skins and themes and stuff for Miyoo and sets up a really useful folder structure.

My only complaint would be how small some of the fonts are on a screen that size once ya start loading up PS1 games.

I picked up a Miyoo Mini Plus this summer. Loaded it with Onion OS and I love it. It even has achievements. Highly recommended.

After weeks of looking and changing my mind over and over on finding the "right" budget handheld to play with (each seems to have a tradeoff), aiming for under $40, I just got the Miyoo Flip v2, though the hinge is unlikely to last, and the premium looking TrimUI Brick. Both seem they can do a lot in a smaller, but practical, form factor. At the price of two, I guess I could have just gotten one even better one.. oh well.

I paid $70 for 128gb miyoo mini plus in 2023 I ended up just buying another microsd and loaded games. One issue I had was it mot charging properly. I attempted to rmeove battery reset and the plastic micro just connector piece broke off got stuck. I ended up ordering 4 replacmeent batteries off amazon for around $30. I dont play long sessions since my hands do get tired. Would be nice if it had mini hdmi out to play on tv

I have a miyoo and I would highly recommend you copy the games over to a name brand micro SD as soon as you get it. For me they used the cheapest SD possible that would work and that equated to it workingfor 3 weeks then crashing and having to be reformatted. I ended up going down the rabbithole of upgrading the operating system and getting my own games since the micro SD could not be read (and thus games could not be copied) until it was reformatted
If you just want to buy something that you don't have to think about, copy the SD immediately so you don't have to spend hours of your time if it crashes.

From the ones around 40 bucks...would the rg35xx h be the best deal?

My kid is playing on my Miyoo right now. Hearing Pokemon 8bit music is amazing.

Agree with this. I built my own ROM library and a new microSD is always the first suggestion anywhere you look. Great advice.

Good device with the biggest benefits being the user-friendly OnionOS and old-school style buttons. Probably best if you are new to the hobby or picking it up for someone younger. This is not recommended for longer sessions or people with bigger hands since the design is very compact and thus unergonomic. Only the TrimUI Brick, and MagicX Zero 28 might also feel small, but the rest of the devices are a bit larger.
