The KEF LSX at Costco ($600) is an active/powered speaker, more akin to the LS50 Wireless. Both versions of LS50's are an audiophile speaker and intended for those can discern (and appreciate) the smallest details in music.
Previous years these went down to $1k during the holidays. Hopefully tariffs don't prevent them dropping to the same price again this year.
Correct $1000.00 last year on the passive Metas. My finger twitched over the buy now button for a month, but just couldn't do it for some reason. Found a pair of Polk Legend L 100's that had dropped to $400.00 and snagged those.I am totally satisfied with the sound after years of buying, trying, returning or reselling many speakers. Having said all that it's buying season and at maybe $800.00 I'd try the LS50 Metas.
A4L already has the recertified versions of the ls50 for $999 if you want it a little cheaper.
Yes, recertified for $999.
That means they can arrive 'with scratches, etc.'. In other words, recertified does not mean the condition of the cabinet is 'like new'... A4L does not guarantee to be 'scratch free' and it will be expensive to return with re-stocking fees, etc. if you do not like the (possible) scratches that it arrives to you with.
You may have had many great experiences with their 'recertified" items before... But that's what A4L customer support told me, so you are taking a risk.
Apples and Oranges. The Costco models are compact all-in-one powered speakers, great for a desktop set up or a small room. These are larger, more premium, passive speakers for a more traditional hi-fi set up, i.e. you'll need a separate amp and source.

Keep in mind that this deal information is regarding the LS50 Wireless, as well. They are active/powered, just like the LSX.

IMO you're still better off buying passive speakers with a mini-amp the size of a paperback novel, e.g. https://a.co/d/5mLYaeh
As for the passive LS50 Meta, those are a lousy 85db sensitivity and 79Hz F3, meaning that aside from nice holographic mids they desperately need a sub and don't expect much room filling capability from them.
For $1200/pr you could do a whole hell of a lot better---the main thing the LS50 has going for it is aesthetics.

They also have $25 off for new customers, or $50 off $500 for military/teachers/first responders. Can also try stacking cash back sites.
