I bought this when it was released before the Quake. While it's a fast and reliable RC car it's not without its drawbacks. It sits pretty low and isn't great driving though grass. You really need dirt clear of plants. It eats through back tires like candy. Since the fronts are different you can't rotate them to extend life. Also camber is pretty aggressive and unevenly wear the back tires. I also picked up the Quake and it's much more versatile. I would recommend the Quake instead. It's also 20% on Horizon today with the code as well.

I have this and it's pretty good but it's still too expensive at this price I would wait for it to drop at least another $50 or purchase something that's four-wheel drive

Coming from the $90 granite voltage, should I wait for a nice 4x4 brushless? Or would this be pretty good value? I still play with the voltage quite a bit, using 2s lipo and changed to a 16T motor.

Good beginner RC but you'll want 4x4 ultimately

Add me to the 4x4 pile. Arrma makes great bashers, but I'd wait for a little more of a price dip or hold off for 4x4 brushless at this price-ish.

Also, 3S is FAST and you can hurt yourself / break things with it.

Tower Hobbies has the 4x4 in their scratch and dent for $250 ( $10 year membership needed)

I think you can convert to 4x4 for like $40. If your angle is to get a kid interested in mechanical stuff, not a bad option

That't not for this car. That's for the Boost version

If you're starting out or its going to be used with kids, always get something 4wd until they're comfortable and understanding how to control the car, then move to something 2wd.

2wd isn't fun when all you want to do is go full throttle.

As an RC Youtuber I can confirm this is a great value and a super fast RC car. It may be 2WD but Arrma has Dynamic Stability Control built in which stabilizes the car for even the most inexperienced drivers. You will not be dissapointed.

incorrect. This car has DSC which makes it very controllable even for a 2WD unit

Just want to thank everyone in this thread. Your input is greatly appreciated. I'm just a beginner when it comes to RC cars. I'm trying to find one that is reliable, fast and can take falls and damage. My kids will be playing with it under my supervision ofcourse. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I like Traxxas https://traxxas.com because every local hobby shop in my area carries every single one of their parts, so I can get parts at a moment's notice. They are also super easy to work on, for those of us who don't pretend to be mechanical engineers.
With Amazon Prime, it's pretty easy to get parts quickly now, although by the time their parts are delivered, the weekend's over....
