Metal seems like an awful choice for holding electronics up vertically. I'd be worried about scratches even with any sort of cloth/felt stickers because those can and will fall off if rubbed enough when pulling devices in and out. Plastic or wood are safer materials if you are at all worried about damaging your electronics.

There's rubber padding on the inside surfaces of all the slots. I have the one and two slot versions and they both work great!

I upvoted since I figured posts like these are self explanatory, either you need one or you don't. Omoton's been making these stands for at least 5+ years with great reviews, just do a quick Amazon search of vertical laptop stands. They have padding on the inside to prevent scratches, and obviously finished wood would be better but this is a fraction of the cost. $15 for a 3-slot is a decent deal, I picked one up to leave at work for my laptop and iPads. If you don't need something like this simply keep it moving lol

I have this one. Quality is great, no scratches after years of use.
