I try to post this helpful info when I see sales. Refurbs may not get the free game or activation credit.

If you don't like the "free" games of the month you can hold off activating Meta+ for 3 months.

Games claimed for "free" through the subscription are only accessible with an active subscription.

$30 credit for those that use a friend link prior to device setup (it's a ban-able offense on SD to post/request such links but check Reddit)

ALL SALES ARE TARGETED meaning they could offer 50% off to one account and no sale for another.

When buying games check for developer links to save a flat 15-20% when there is no active sale on the game.

You're going to want a better strap and there's 2 or 3 great options for under $100. Some have hot swap batteries.(examples kiwi, globular, boboVR)

If you have glasses or a stigmatism there are snap on prescription lenses for $20 on sites or $50 direct from Meta.

The max credit you can attain per year is $599 (anything $600+ is taxable)

The 4th gen headset is expected 2026/2027

There's free 3rd party software like OcularMigraine that improves visuals at the cost of battery life. Others like Quest Games Optimizer have a price associated along with permissions.

The games with PCVR need the Meta app for PC and many others recommend Virtual Desktop when on sale.

You do not need to link FB/IG to your account can use a normal email account.

If you mess up the $30 link you have 7 days to click a $30 link and factory reset your headset and go through initial setup to get it. Otherwise you need a good bit of personal info from the other person for support to process it. Sometimes there's a promo for $60 credit so check the app.

I'm sure there is info I forgot like there's no crossbuy and if you see it that means it gives you a Meta PC copy you need the app to play.

360 videos through the YouTube app are not true 4K and should be downloaded to view uncompressed.

Rechargeable batteries for the controllers are a must as they take 1 AA each.

Activate 2 factor authentication and set a pin for purchases to minimize accidents. There is a small return window for purchases but YMMV with support.

Those with GeForceNow can use it with the headset but the experience is not amazing yet.

Do NOT expose headset or lenses to direct or reflected sunlight (use a cover)

If you owned a Quest2 and purchase a Quest3 you may still be able to get the $30 activation credit.

Do NOT leave the headset charging for hours unsupervised or with 3rd party plugs/cables

Always read reviews as Most Recent and check online for in depth reviews.

I've accidentally punched my headset during a vr workout and thankfully it was fine but mind your surroundings.

Meta+ is not needed to use the headset (my 3 month trial ran out)

Only use a dry microfiber cloth to clean your lenses or risk removing the anti glare coating

Batman game extended through December 2026

I own a Quest 3

I don't play games that much but bought a Nvidia 4090 PC last year.

I was curious if this is worth it? Is VR worth it?

2025 answer is "sorta". I still have a 1070ti mini chugging along so I can't go crazy with my settings. You can use the headset for more than games as some use it for learning, design/art, movies and other experiences.

VR was for me a game changer. I upgraded on the release day from the Quest 2 to the Quest 3. I wouldn't buy the 3S, but the price is in fact good. Don't worry about games, you don't need the subscription. There are many free titles - in general quest games are often less than 20 USD.

I bought one of these Quest 3's during their last refurb sale about a month ago. The headset came in immaculate condition with the plastic peel-off covers still on the lenses. Didn't think of myself as someone who would like VR that much, but I was very wrong.
I'm using mine every day now for working out by playing PowerBeats VR and break a sweat on the harder songs. If you have a gaming PC at home, I'd highly recommend getting Virtual Desktop and finding sales on Steam (Eneba has a good selection) or waiting for the next big sale through the Meta store. There's plenty of fun games out there, no matter what you're into.
If you have a small play area or are concerned about hitting things I'd recommend getting an open-face interface so you can see your surroundings in your peripherals. I also recommend replacing the head strap with a head unit (I went for the Globular Cluster CMQ3), which will help balance the weight of the headset and lessen fatigue.

I want to pick up the 3 for my spouse for Christmas, just wondering if it will be available one more time before then. Getting it now makes the return window a bit tight if something is wrong.

Just to note, the 256GB Quest 3S was on sale during this past Prime Day for $329.00, which included Batman: Arkham Shadow (MSRP $50) and 3 months of Horizon+.

There's no guarantee that deal (or a better one) will pop up around Black Friday, but if you're looking for the 3S, it might be worth holding off on this deal if you're interested in the Batman game and / or the Horizon+ trial.
