I have this and it's my only Ridgid cordless tool. This is a good price and a very good tool. I have smaller and bigger impacts that were all a lot more expensive and I still grab this one first for lug nut duty. It's a good balance of strength/weight.

The power ramp-up takes a little getting used to, but for a standalone package, I highly recommend.

Looks like the same tool R86012 you just got an extra battery for $40. I'm tempted at this tool. Anyone with feedback on the auto tightening/breakaway? Curious if the final torque is consistent at all

Looks like you're just about at break even. If you check the bundle you got the battery two pack is $70 so $35/battery. You paid $40 for the extra battery compared to this kit. Also depends if you need the batteries, if not you could return your battery and charger kit and keep the tool for $80

Totally a preference thing in my opinion. Regardless of which one I grab, it always seems like I'm irritated at it. The detent ball impact is a pain to change sockets and the sockets detach from the friction ring too easy. If you use it with a bunch of different sockets, changing easy is probably more important. For a lot of people, this sort of tool is probably just for lug nuts, so the detent ball probably makes the most sense.

Difference between friction ring and pin detent is that the friction ring is pretty standard, you can simply pull a socket off with you hands and quickly change between them. The Detent Pin style locks the socket onto the wrench and usually requires something to push in the pin thru the socket hole to release it. This is usually used when working high in the air where your tool is attached to a belt strap and the idea of a heavy socket accidently coming off and dropping could lead to major injury to someone below.

So they worry about a socket falling off. What about the entire tool falls off your hand?

I have this tool, along with a bunch of other Ridgid tools. I've only used this torque wrench a few times so far, for lug nuts on my truck. It works fine and is well made like all of the Ridgid tools and batteries that I have.
At this price I wouldn't hesitate to buy again if I had didn't already have one. I also have the high torque model but haven't needed to use it yet as this mid torque has gotten the job done.
The lifetime warranty for the Ridgid tools and batteries if you register them is a great added bonus, although I've never needed to use that warranty in the years I've owned Ridgid tools.

Just bought this! I prefer kits with only one battery. Having a second battery is nice if you're using this impact wrench on a regular basis. I'd only use it 4 times a year. Having a second battery is a waste for me since it wouldn't be used often even after rotating. The moment a battery is made, its life starts waning. I'd rather buy the second battery when I need it. Thanks OP.
