I bought these years ago. The cap is lined with plastic. Over time, the outer metal part of the cap and the plastic inner separate and it becomes very difficult to open. The metal part spins but the plastic does not move. I would not buy them again.

Be extremely careful if you add a secondary source of sugar (like fruit). I bottle Kombucha in beer bottles, and every now and then the caps pop from over pressurization. These likely will shatter easily.

Looks like a fantastic price. I make kombucha and these type of bottles aren't easy to find... I can re-use kevita or other kombucha bottles but those lids suck and fail after 5-6 refills. These look lots better.

I feel like there has to be a more permanent metal cap with oring for that threading. That would probably be easiest.

Thank you for this comment. As someone my self that makes kombucha, tepache, and beer I absolutely will have to recommend not using these for anything that is fermented. This active culture may cause them to explode and at minimum cause a mess. And we escalate problems from there.

There was an article recently about glass bottles leaching more microplastics than plastic bottles. Not all glass is pure.

There are varying qualities of glass so yes it does make a difference.

That's news to me! Do you have a link to the article? 😟

My regular Mexican restaurant serves their Horchatas in these. The lids are separating and it can be difficult to open.
