About this Film:
  • As a young boy, Bruce Wayne watched in horror as his millionaire parents were slain in front of him--a trauma that leads him to become obsessed with revenge. But the opportunity to avenge his parents' deaths is cruelly taken away from him by fate. Fleeing to the East, where he seeks counsel with the dangerous but honorable ninja cult leader known as Ra's Al-Ghul, Bruce returns to his now decaying Gotham City, which is overrun by organized crime and other dangerous individuals manipulating the system. Meanwhile, Bruce is slowly being swindled out of Wayne Industries, the company he inherited. The discovery of a cave under his mansion, along with a prototype armored suit, leads him to assume a new persona, one which will strike fear into the hearts of men who do wrong; he becomes Batman!

Good price. I think I paid $15 on sale at BB some years ago.

The Nolan trilogy goes for around $30 once or twice a year. Not bad if, for whatever reason, you need a standalone.

If you're upgrading I would point out, this isn't a great transfer & CN does not care for object based soundtracks.

Whats a good cheap 4K dvd player?

PS5 or XBOX?

But they dont do dolby vision right?

Is it worth missing that when you have a 100" TV?

I understand dont really matter on 75" and smaller and sitting too far to really notice, but when you got a big screen like 100" I assume dolby vision is worth it.

But standalones are still $250-300?

Be nice to get dual purpose and have a gaming machine and a 4K player

Screen size is only a single factor. Viewing distance, resolution, and even your eyesight play a part.

I have a Ps5 and absolutely would not ise it as a 4K player, stand alones are much better.

I currently have two 86" 4K tvs, but replacing one with an 83" OLED because the difference is so great.

Are we reading the same review? 4.5 video, 4.5 audio out of 5? He praises the transfer in most ways and says it's a definite upgrade from the Blu-ray. What am I missing?

It might not be a bad transfer as it seems to be faithful to the source material but it definitely doesn't look particularly good either. It's easily one of the least impressive 4ks I've watched.

You should always read any review with a grain of salt.
Yes PQ it's better than its BR counterpart, that's often the case.
That doesn't mean it's an overall great transfer especially if you consider good upscaling of BR.

IF this actually has an audio upgrade, it wasn't very prominent to say the least to me.
Usually CN does not do any upgrade to AQ, it's often the same as BR version.

A couple of months ago the Sony UBP-X700 was on sale for $170. I'm satisfied with it... see if it drops in price on Black Friday. It only froze once so far... It was a good upgrade as it still plays blue ray and DVD as well.

LavenderSunflower deleted the back and forth when my intelligence was attacked by soapboxrob after his rant got off topic, but just giving you a heads up that the movie quality is fine (I purchased it for $11 a few months ago). Rob normally injects himself to appear helpful for his own ego.
