This is an insanely good time to visit Japan. The yen is over 150 to the dollar, which is unreal. When I lived there, it hovered around 110.

It was in the 160s when I went during cherry blossoms season. The Yen has been weak for the last 2 years. Be warned, once you go to Japan, you might not want to travel anywhere else.

I lived in Okinawa for three years, and it's a wonderful place to live, though the language could be a BIT less challenging. The people are amazing, and the culture is just fascinating. It's not Nirvana -- they have their own issues like overworking, sexual harassment, suicides, xenophobia -- but it's an incredible country for many reasons. I do miss it and would love to go back.
