I've been looking for a Black Friday discount on the unlocked Apple iPhone 17 air. It's selling very poorly according to reports so the model might not be renewed next year. But I think it looks like lots of fun. If anybody sees a significant reduction on this phone I would appreciate a heads up. Thank you very much.

If some manufacturer's phone isn't selling well, the manufacturer would go to the carriers with rebates, discounts, etc. especially when they have contracts in place to sell some minimum number of units. This allows carriers to set up a good deal for *their* customers as a loss leader to sell service (where money is actually made).
As an unlocked phone buyer, you're undesirable in the eyes of every carrier and every retailer because not only do you do not contribute anything to their business, but rather you're taking advantage of them as free distribution and taking a discount not intended for non-subscribers. You're free to buy directly from the manufacturer of course with a tiny discount (e.g. Apple Black Friday/Cyber Monday), but no one is honest enough to do that.
