Technically, that workload rating is for the Barracuda, as the Expansion lacks that spec entirely. As for the claim that shucking activates a 5 year warranty, that's just totally absurd.
I think you need to get a new friend. BTW, the drive may still be adequate for your purposes, just please don't spread misinformation.

I guess I should add that these are usually stuffed with barracudas that have a high failure rate and don't have 24/7 duty cycles so use at your own risk. I'd personally spend a little more and get an enterprise or NAS drive than gamble with buying twice and going through the setup process twice and deal with the potential for lost data.
