Don't. Have 6 laptops for 10 years+. Just put in protective case and you're good. I like to upgrade a lot

I used to think like you, however some people need it. If one is clumsy, drop things often, eat in front of their laptop, treat it more like a book than a laptop, one needs Apple care. All college students need to buy Applecare. I told my son to buy it but he said he'd rather be careful instead of buying it.
