This Ryobi 18V six tool kit is a strong value for typical home projects, especially with two batteries and a charger included for under $200. The drill, impact driver, circular saw, and other core tools are described as plenty capable for DIY use, and the battery life has been enough for small jobs. The main weak spots are the oscillating tool, which has weak power and a fiddly blade lock, and the 5.5 inch circular saw blade, which limits thicker cuts. It is a practical starter set with broad tool variety.
The kit can cover typical around-the-house DIY needs with six included tools and two batteries.
The included batteries can last through small projects without needing a recharge.
The flashlight tool can be surprisingly useful during home projects.
The oscillating saw motor can be replaced under a 3-year warranty after heavy use.
The oscillating saw blades can wear out very quickly and require frequent replacement.
The oscillating tool can have weak power and an awkward locking mechanism that uses an Allen key.
The circular saw's 5-1/2 inch blade can limit the wood thickness that it can cut.
The kit can include a low-value LED light instead of a jigsaw, which can leave a missing tool for some projects.

The two batteries have also been more than enough to carry me through my small projects without recharge, and the flashlight tool has been surprisingly useful. This being a Home Depot brand with 100+ tools, I doubt these will go away any time soon, so IMHO, a solid choice.
I have seen 'brushless' sets pop up for $300 or something on here, but imho, its not worth the investment for homeowners.
I have both the Ryobi 18v brushed and the Skil 12v brushless. For stuff like the drill and driver the power is comparable.
Main advantage of the Ryobi is the sheer variety of tools available. Although Skil has the auto hammer which Ryobi doesn't. That's how I started my skil collection.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank
But that said still a good deal and the jigsaw will be inexpensive to buy separately later.
Also, I believe you can get Chinese knockoff no name batteries for ryobi cheap on Amazon later. I have had good look with such a battery for my black and decker weedeater. So if I ever needed another battery I'd def do that. I think you can get higher capacity for cheaper than the branded batteries.
. I've purchased a few other Ryobi tools and even a fan. I have the original batteries still working well with all tools and devices.
