Windows on ARM sadly...
Depends on use case. Maybe not good for hardcore gaming or obscure apps, but for general use Windows on ARM is fantastic. This tablet has instant on/off with virtually no battery drain in standby. Can't say that about x86

Seems like a good deal. Any reason why not to purchase this?
If you want a keyboard the device gets expensive quickly compared to other devices. However, it is a great device. Personally, I prefer 14".

You may be thinking of a different version of the Surface.
All reviews, and the unit I bought says this OLED version has a nice screen.
On a technical level, yes, it's a good OLED panel. The problem is that Microsoft uses a specific digitizer that creates a terrible moire effect across the whole display which is particularly noticeable against white backgrounds.

YMMV on sensitivity, but I tried one of these out back in June as a potential device to consolidate my Macbook Pro and iPad--returned it in a week because the moire as driving me bonkers.

I think the biggest limitation for the surface pro 13" is the weight, everything else is great. But the pro 13" weighs almost 2lbs which is pretty hefty compared to other tablets
This is actually not a correct comparison.
iPad 13" magic keyboard is 1.45 lbs. When keyboard is attached, the Surface Pro is lighter than iPad

Sure it's a correct comparison. This deal doesn't even come with a keyboard, and someone might not plan to use it with a keyboard. If you wanted to use a keyboard all the time a surface laptop 7 is better. If you don't care to use a keyboard the surface pro 13" is much heavier than most other tablets.

so really only makes sense if you don't want 2 dedicated devices (laptop + tablet) or you plan to use the pen/productivity apps

For someone who is more stationary and still would like the touch screen experience, wouldn't you get more value for your money if say you bought a 2 in 1 laptop? Example: Yoga or Omnibook? How does it compare?

MS needs to bring x86 back into consumer products. I'm not paying double for an intel surface

Overall, this is a solid build and amazing screen for the money. Not impossible to come by, but its rare to see a laptop with aluminium build, and ultra high rez OLED touchscreen under $1K. This said, I got my Dell XPS 13 for around $900 with exactly that and I am very happy with it. I would consider this one if in market.

I have the 10 core and non OLED version of this device, and use it as my daily device. Really liked it.
No battery drain if you just close it, it uses <10% battery per hour unless I do video conferencing using teams, which drain battery like crazy (I blame teams on this).
Performance is good, and I occasionally play World of Warcraft on it (it has an ARM native version). I never run into any app compatibility issue (x64 emulation works well for me). Though keep in mind if you need drivers for an external device, most likely you'll be out of luck as there are usually no ARM64 drivers.

Overall I'll recommend this if you want a lightweight device. Though the keyboard (must have) is pretty expensive, and you can't really use it on you lap.

Btw, I like Flex Keyboard although it is expensive (MSRP $400!!). It can be used as Bluetooth keyboard if you put the tablet a bit far away. When I have to use the Surface Pro in my car, I put the tablet on the dash, or hang it behind the front seats, and use the keyboard on my lap.

Is that why Windows on ARM has achieved a massive 0.8% market share? Both Microsoft and Qualcomm have been silent re actual shipment data. That's how much of a raging success Windows on ARM has been... Sadly, this is a chicken and egg problem. Nobody is doubting that ARM is superior hardware (although x86 has mostly closed the gap). The issue is app developer support.

App support is getting there. The prism emulator now supports AVX/AVX2 extensions which fixes a lot, and some of the native app holes have been plugged. I haven't found any deal breakers and the windows on arm experience is hella nice

It's used, that is the biggest reason not to purchase it!
