You should be able to go into paypal and cancel the automatic payment after you sign up. Settings ->Payments->Automatic payments

Requires unique email if you used the offer before. If you don't have more than one email (anyone? anyone?), just use +tag for your gmail or other account that supports tagging (i.e, dynamic alias), or use hideyouremail if your on an apple device.

The deal is valid for new pro users only. I previously had pro and cancelled .... Now the deal page giving me this error
"You are already subscribed or have previously subscribed to Perplexity Pro."

Yes, says it'll charge after trial so best to set a reminder to cancel if you dont want it after.

I bought this when this deal was brought up last time. In many cases, free Gemini or even copilot does better. The only thing it does better is it shows references, in case you want to fact check the info.
