I got this deal last time and haven't seen commenters point out my main use case yet. When you have pro, you can choose what model to use. This lets you essentially have Claude Sonnet 4.5 Thinking for free, which is the best writer of the SOTA models. The context window from Anthropic is 200k tokens when used on their website, but Perplexity caps at 32k tokens (for obvious cost-saving reasons). But for quick help on some of my longer emails, it's been better than ChatGPT 5 at warm, more-human-sounding writing.

Requires unique email if you used the offer before. If you don't have more than one email (anyone? anyone?), just use +tag for your gmail or other account that supports tagging (i.e, dynamic alias), or use hideyouremail if your on an apple device.

Community Reviews

Perplexity Pro is a yearlong free trial that adds model choice, source controls, and cited answers for fact checking, with some finding it useful for longer emails, research, and quick website building. The offer is for new subscribers only and does not stack with prior subscriptions, so a unique email may be needed if the promo was used before. It auto renews at $20 per month after the free year unless canceled, and cancellation can be done right away through Perplexity, PayPal, or a virtual card. A practical pick if you want Pro features without paying upfront.

Is there an easy way to turn off auto-renew now, or immediately after signing up?
I just did so with this offer, no problem. Click on account, manage subscription, cancel. Still shows trial for 1-year. Also unlink subscription in your PayPal account to be safe.

Honestly, I want to like Perplexity Pro. I would love if whoever is downvoting us to give us use cases on how to use Perplexity better. I explored the more advanced features like Labs and Deep Learning, but not really sure what I would use these features for unless I was in college trying to generate some essay.
I wanted to set up a biz website. Got it done with perplexity pro Labs within about 30 minutes with some tweaking of what I wanted. All I did was tell it to change this that and the other. Pro let's you choose from different models - including ChatGPT. So you can compare with different ones to find what you like. You can set sources - so for some topics I prefer Social sources, for some only Academic sources. You can set these up in "Spaces" so that the space has basic prompt information that you don't have to retype. There is more. Also Perplexity provides much more relevant answers than Gemini to questions that in the past may have been just google searches.

Yes, but you can login to your perplexity account on a web browser, and cancel auto renewal right away without affecting the membership.
