1. If you purchase directly from Ubiquiti you got a two year warranty instead of a one year warranty.
2. If you purchased from them directly, you also pay shipping, so the savings at Micro Center is actually higher.
Either way, the Ubiquiti equipment is great, especially if you use other items in there ecosystem which has been rapidly expanding.
If you are lucky enough to plug in your single router and it works, you don't need it. If you have a bigger house with multiple access points or ever need to troubleshoot (IMHO) its a ton easier than trying to figure out what's going wrong using a consumer router or cobbling together freeware network tracing utilities and sifting through MB of text data looking for your issue.
This blows them out of the water. Consistency, speeds, UI, everything is incredibly premium and very easy to use.
For those who stream and host their own cloud gaming, you'll never go back from WifiMan. Tailscale is wonderful, but the built in support for Unifi's VPN is next level.
I'm not going to tell you to get this at a great price, but I will recommend it with all of my heart. You'll love it.

Problem with your approach is people will just go buy some entry level netgear that is no better than the GLiNet stuff and yet I would put more trust in the GL stuff than Netgear or Asus these days.
I'm also a fan of of the GL.inet products though. while I would still place them far under ubiquiti they have some nice power features and a slick looking UI also.
For anyone complaining about china.... look up a bill of material for your suggestion and tell me where the components are from. If it has a board, processing, or memory from China you are just as likely to be compromised.
1. I have ATT router módem combo, if I have to use this, do I need to use IP passthrough?
2. I have 5000sft house with two stories will this cover the entire house.
3. My current setup, I am using Orbi mesh it's fine but, don't like Orbi UI and bullshit subscription for more control.
Appreciate anyone input.

Sure, does everyone need to go out and install $2k worth of hardware like I have in my network rack? No. But there are better brands and better hardware out there that are night and day better than what Target & Walmart offer and there is just no justification these days for those.
Let's put it this way...if you live in a nicer neighborhood in a nicer part of town, i'm sure you can go 365 days a year without ever locking your front door. Doesn't mean you should, but you probably can. What proper hardware does is makes sure that even if you do decide to lock your door, you're going to make it incredibly difficult for anyone, no matter how rare it is, to enter your house.
Also, with proper hardware, you can isolate your network traffic away from certain locales. For instance, I block any/all traffic to/from China and Russia and have seen in my logs where this comes from (mostly threats in, hardly any threats out, but I did have one device that was trying to phone home to Russia and I quickly killed that service).

This device I would not recommend alone for a 5000sq ft house. My house is 2400 and I have 2 AP's currently and will be adding a 3rd later . I can only imagine you'd need at least 3.

AP's *should* be hard wired for best performance, but they can technically mesh too. I would only recommend meshing for far reach AP's that can't get wired though (like a shed, or outbuilding or something).
