That's not really how it works.

This video [youtube.com] shows a similar GMKtec system with a Ryzen 6600H. He tested around 18W idle and 80W max.
A user in this thread [reddit.com] reported an idle power consumption of 7-11W for a Beelink system with a 6600H.
This benchmark [notebookcheck.net] lists the 6600H as idling around 8W and maxing around 80W.
This thread [reddit.com] shows an N100 idling at 14W.
You can find other benchmarks of N100 and similar systems idling under 6W.
My GMKtec mini PC with a Ryzen 7735HS idled at around 15W. I had it configured for a 54W TDP in the BIOS.

A couple of takeaways...

TDP is not a good way to estimate power usage of a CPU.
The total power of a system is very different from the power draw of the CPU.
Cheap components can greatly impact the overall efficiency of your system. It can turn a highly efficient N100 into a 10W+ idle machine in a hurry.

There is an unoccupied slot for a second SSD. The 16GB of ram is a single stick with an unoccupied second slot.

The main issue with all these cheapstake miniPCs is - other than the CPU, all the rest of the components are no name generic, which translates to low quality components, which further translates to low reliability and low life span.
Can probably only be used for streaming or entertaining HTPC.
For me, I would rather buy a used brand name laptop or desktop.
I bought the Firebat A5P from the same seller which was also very cheap for the specs (Ryzen 8745HS) and it came with Samsung branded memory. The SSD was generic Firebat brand but I was going to swap that out anyways. I wouldn't trust a used SSD in a used machine that might've been abused.

For $150-200 I don't know what you expect. I have Intel N100 and N95 mini PCs that were $100 each as NAS and home servers running 24/7 for 2 years with no issues. You should back up your data anyways and in that case if the hardware fails the cost of replacing the entire unit with something faster is the same as replacing components on a name brand machine.

This one is out of stock. So I bought a AK02 from the same vendor. With their coupon to you get it for $112 instead of $124. It has a similar box but with Intel CPU N150. The CPU has a lower speed compared to AMD 6600H but has also much lower power consumption at only 6W. For me that is good enough.

You've been misled on the power efficiencies of minipcs. Those specs they post mean almost nothing.

What's a good remote control for this, if we want to run a Kodi or plex type setup with local copies of videos on board or on external drive? Are there entertainment interfaces that can help make this replace something like fire stick or roku, and still allow access to local videos?
Yatse for kodi or buy a generic remote with IR sensor. https://www.walmart.com/ip/SANOXY...mgQAvD_BwE

or both. I used a remote like this and the IR blaster with a learning remote.

To be clear you can use this remote but it is not a good remote (mine wasn't anyway) . So I used the USB to IR on the pc and used the remote to program my learning remote.

Got it. Do you remember Lenovo triangle n59 remote I still have that somewhere but lost the receiver. That was a good one with a little touch pad.

Never seen that one. I had a URC Digital R50 honesty in Kodi you only use the arrow keys for navigation and play pause stop.

I got mine 2 days ago. Wasn't shipped via Amazon but I've had temu/ali stuff arrive via Amazon before. I think they will use their Amazon storefront stock to fill some orders if it's closer to you.

Overall for the price I'm very impressed. Solid little PC, snappy too. I'm only using it for office style work/video playback and some basic video transcoding. The 660M is a solid little workhorse for video conversion tasks.

More importantly, I wasn't sure what all the usb-c port would support and took a gamble. I have a dell usb-c dock that I use for my laptop that has 2 monitors, speakers, KB/mouse attached. I wanted to be able to easily quickly switch between my laptop and this unit, and it worked flawlessly. Plugged in the usb-c and it picked up both monitors and KB/mouse. Doesn't get power via usb-c but I didn't expect it too.

This makes my workspace so much more convenient as I have a dedicated PC for basic tasks and can plug my laptop in when needed. I also threw a win11 pro license on there and enabled remote desktop and bitlocker.

Interestingly task manager shows 1 of 2 slots used for the memory. I haven't cracked the case open to confirm but if I'm reading that right it's running in single channel mode with 1 16gb dimm. So cheaper/easier to upgrade to 32gb by grabbing one 16gb sodimm if desired. For now it seems fine with the 16gb and pretty snappy so not going to upgrade the ram.

The only thing I noticed is when I did windows updates, and it grabbed the latest win11 update, on reboot the AMD Adrenaline software gave an error of being the wrong version. I went to amds site, grabbed the latest adrenaline and chipset drivers, installed, rebooted, error went away.

The wifi chipset seems solid and connection to WiFi6 is strong. Interestingly on initial setup of win11 it didn't pester me to make an online Microsoft account, went straight to local account only setup which is what I wanted anyway.

It's silent when not under load. When under load you can hear the cooling fan but it's not very loud. Id equate it to one of those rechargable personal cooling fans.

The only "shady" thing, which I know a lot of vendors do, was a foil sealed card inside, when opened, it offers you a $20 GC or 3 year warranty for an Amazon review specifically (with a pic of 5 star icons at the top) and explicitly tells you not to mention the card in the review.
