NOTE--> Build Volume: 152.4*152.4*152.5mm³
This thing has a TINY print bed, when even 220^3 is small these days, and 240/250 or 300/330 are preferred.

(And it's "Eddy" not "Teddy," as in eddy current.(EDIT: original title listed "Teddy scan," I'm not just trying to be funny))

As for main reasons you'd choose this over the A1 Mini:

Enclosed = It's ready for more technical materials where offgassing is a concern
Core XY = this one's less of an everyday concern, but more of a design concern. There's less design consideration needed without a moving bed (translates to faster print speeds). I include this because it is part of the consideration; however 99% of the prints out there already take the bedslinger into account (or print slow enough to not need design considerations)
350c max hotend temp = 50c more than the A1 hotend, meaning more headroom for technical materials
Voron-Lite = The sovol heavily borrows (steals) Voron designs; so you aren't just opting for open source software, but ALSO hardware. The proprietary parts on the Sovol are there for budget reasons; but you should be able to find cheap Voron parts to replace them with.

Why you would want to choose the A1 Mini over this:

Drop in parts = Sure, a bambu part only fits a bambu, but you know it'll work with your printer
Drop in expansions = AMS is plug and play; the Sovol/Voron solution doesn't have a "unbox and print" solution
Bigger build plate = and she said size doesn't matter

There's probably more that I'm not thinking of, and regardless the bambu fanboys will crucify me over something anyway

Looks fast, but small build volume is very limiting. 152mm x 152 x 152.

Wow, this is way smaller than I thought. the cheaper BambuLab A1 Mini print volume is 180³ (just over 7"), and this Sovol is 152³ (just under 6").
Is there a compelling reason to chose this Sovol over the A1 Mini other than wanting to avoid BambuLab software restrictions?

Other than firmware reasons, people buy this primarily for speed. In that regard this prints more than twice as fast the A1 Mini.

You use a slicer to turn model files into code built for your machine.

OrcaSlicer is one of the more popular choices as it's derived from several other slicers and tends to incorporate a lot of the most popular features.

Just like other Sovol printers, this little guy is loud. Think twice before you put this in your bedroom just because it looks petite.

I think one of the main advantages for this Sovol is the speed. At 1200 mm/s, it's twice as fast as the average budget CoreXY printer. Comparable Flashforge and Creality models all advertise only 600 mm/s.

Eh, speed not so much. It is faster but not 100% faster like you imply.

You will never hit 1200 mm/s simply because the printer is so small you will never be able to achieve peak acceleration rates.

You will also never realistically hit 600 mm/s on the Creality or Flashforge models. Flashforge max acceleration is advertised at 20k mm/s/s, and it's advertised as 40k on the Sovol. So I think calling it twice as fast, while noting that all of these manufacturers exaggerate, is pretty reasonable. Unless you have evidence that Sovol's marketing is somehow MORE dishonest than Creality or Flashforge's marketing.
