This Kamrui E3B mini PC is a compact Windows 11 Home desktop aimed at everyday use, home servers, and light media work. The Ryzen 5 7430U is described as a lower mid range chip, but the 32GB of DDR4 and 512GB SSD make it feel roomy for multitasking, Proxmox, and basic home office needs. It has handled Plex and Blue Iris well in real use, including 4K transcoding and six cameras, while drawing about 18W. The main limits are the weak Vega graphics for gaming and the gigabit ethernet and Wi Fi chip concerns on some units. A practical small box if you want modest power without much noise or bulk.

Common Questions (6)

  • It can work well for in-home Plex or Jellyfin use, and one setup handled 4K hardware transcoding with little CPU impact. For outside-the-home streaming or heavier transcoding, Intel Quick Sync is still the safer choice, and AMD may fall back to software transcoding depending on the app and OS.

  • For basic home use, 32GB is more than enough and often more than average users will fully use, but it helps with multitasking, browser tabs, VMs, and iGPU memory sharing. If you expect heavier workloads or want more headroom over time, 32GB is the better buy than 16GB.

  • It is not a strong gaming chip: the Vega iGPU is described as outdated and suitable mainly for older, retro, or very light titles like Roblox or Minecraft. For modern games, a 7840HS-class system with a 780M iGPU is a much better fit.

  • Yes, it has been used successfully with 6 cameras, with CPU usage staying around 8% or less most of the time. An external hard drive was used for recording, so it can handle a modest home surveillance setup.

  • It can work well as a Proxmox host for light-to-moderate services and even clustered mini-PC setups, but the 1GbE NIC on some units is a limitation for storage-heavy workloads like Ceph. For VM-heavy or GPU-offload plans, containers are easier than iGPU passthrough, and 2.5GbE networking may be needed.

  • Yes, it comes with Windows 11 Home preinstalled. That also makes it a straightforward Windows 11 replacement for older PCs that cannot upgrade.

No, that is a good use case. It's reasonably powerful and capable of anything the average user throws at it, except for gaming with that weak Vega GPU. The 32GB RAM will never be used by average users, but it's nice to have. Just keep in mind this PC doesn't include a mouse or keyboard, so if the old mouse and keyboard are PS2, not USB, they won't be compatible.
EEK!

PS2 mouse/KB would be like 15-20 years old, if not more.

I know this is overkill for browsing the web, but would this be energy efficient to use as a server for Plex and stuff?
I'm using it for plex and blue iris. It averages about 18w power consumption.

IMHO... the best deal to date was the Firebat AP5 (7845hs, 16GB, 512GB) for $234.

Does about 10ish watts. Also the LP1 is set at 45 and the LP2 is about 57. Basically this system is throttled down but still much faster then this mini.

I was wondering how this might handle Blue Iris? Sow are u running more than 5 cameras and are you just recording to the ssd or external hard drive?

The deal you have shared has expired and is no longer available. Plus, this one comes with double the RAM.
Not really -- DDR4 vs DDR5. Not comparable.

You'd be shocked how often I still encountered them up until around 5 years ago. HP in particular was guilty of shipping out lots of PS2 keyboards with business PCs up until around 10 years ago. Those PCs got carried along with free Win10 upgrades.

I was responding to one person who mentioned their parents had a PC that couldn't upgrade to Win11, so I always like to warn people, just in case it's some kind of PC with PS2 peripherals. The 3rd and 4th Gen i5 series is still commonly encountered today, as it's still capable of a decent Windows 10 experience.

It is not a clear winner 16GB DDR5 vs 32GB DDR4, it depends a lot on what you are trying to accomplish!
If you're primarily focused on gaming and plan to play a wide variety of modern titles, especially open-world or simulation games, 32GB of DDR4 is generally the better option. The extra capacity will provide a more stable and enjoyable gaming experience, preventing stutters and allowing you to run other applications in the background.
If you're on a tight budget and are only playing less demanding games, 16GB of DDR5 might be sufficient. However, you'll likely encounter limitations in more resource-intensive titles.

Blue iris is working just fine on this for me. I have 6 cameras. CPU usage stays around 8% or less most of the time. Using an external hard drive.

What kind of wifi chips do they use? If it was a brand new wifi chip release, it sometimes take that long to get into the kernel. Especially if it's not an Intel chip. I know Realtek wifi chips sometimes has issues for years on Linux.
Mine came with the MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 Wireless LAN Card.

I am thinking about one of these to replace an old desktop my parents use that wont take Windows 11. They like the big monitor vs a laptop and this could hang on the back. Is it overkill for basic home use?
If its Windows 10 you can upgrade older equipment to 11 but you have to backup data and do a full factory reset. You will have to upgrade to 11 before windows can look for any updates..It works.. i've redone all of my older hardware that's not on the compatibility list.

The power brick will almost certainly support 100-240V, check to make sure when you get it. As long as it supports 100-240V you just need a cheap physical adapter.

That's for Europe, don't know what country you need but 100-240V covers household power everywhere in the world.

Agreed. There are different use cases.
The post I was commenting to only mentioned that one had double the RAM, without reference to the fact that it was a different type of RAM or in what scenario one type would be preferable to another.

Anyone think these are going to hit a bit lower for Black Friday? Could use one for a lab environment for study/training but there's so many of these mini-PCs out there it's difficult to differentiate.
