This socket will only take the latest Intel CPUs and will not take the next ones that they come out with so there is no upgrade path for motherboards with this socket at all. Intel typically will use the same socket for 2 to 3 generations but not so with this one.

That's not technically true, arrow lake-s refresh will also be on the lga 1851 socket, so there will be an upgrade path, just a very minor and realistically not worthwhile one. I get the feeling intel will market arrow lake-s refresh as a new generation to claim that they supported two generations on lga 1851, but the next true generation (nova lake) will be on the future lga 1954 socket.

Either way, the amd am5 socket is confirmed to support future generation zen6 cpus as a drop-in upgrade (with current rumors indicating am5 will likely also support two gen in the future zen7 cpus), so in terms of having an upgrade path the am5 platform is drastically superior.

I must have misunderstood what I read about it. I like how AMD supports a socket for long time.

This isn't a bad deal per-se, but it's a significantly worse value than multiple other (now expired) motherboard+ram deals in the past few days. I'd personally hold out for something more comparable to recent previous deals.
If you choose to go for this motherboard anyways, you can sweeten this deal a little with the ongoing newegg giftcard promotion (bonus $15 giftcard with purchase of $100 giftcard): https://slickdeals.net/f/18761887-100-newegg-gift-card-15-newegg-promotional-gift-card-100-email-delivery

Superior previous deals from the past 3 days:
Z890 examples:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18763003-msi-mpg-z890-edge-ti-wifi7-corsair-vengeance-rgb-32gb-2-x-16gb-6000-cl36-50-steam-gift-card-star-wars-outlaws-gold-249-99
($100 cheaper, moderately lower tier but still generally overkill board, same specced ram, same $50 steam giftcard, $100 additional combo savings with the 265k(f) vs no combo savings on this deal)
https://slickdeals.net/f/18768940-asus-tuf-gaming-z890-plus-wifi-motherboard-32gb-corsair-ram-star-wars-outlaw-ge-200-free-shipping
($150 cheaper, moderately lower tier but still highly competent board, same specced ram, no steam giftcard, $70 additional combo savings with the 265k(f) vs no combo savings on this deal)
X870E example:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18773314-gigabyte-x870e-aorus-elite-x3d-motherboard-32gb-v-color-ddr5-8000-ram-379-99
($30 more, slightly lower tier but still high-end board, amd am5 socket with a far superior upgrade path and more desirable cpu options, DRASTICALLY superior 32gb ddr5 8000mt/s ram)

Motherboard specs: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/M...cification
Motherboard review: https://overclock3d.net/reviews/c...fi-review/

The ram is the biggest disappointment in this combo, but I suppose that's to be expected considering the horrendous state of the memory market currently. Prices have jumped 50% or more, and they're not expected to drop anytime soon. Still, at $350 I'd expect this motherboard to be paired with ddr5 7200mt/s at least. Ddr5 6000mt/s 36-44-44-96 1.4v is middle of the road, not exceptional but not abhorrent. It unfortunately is extremely unlikely to use hynix memory chips (most likely samsung instead), so I'd expect overclocking/tuning potential to be fairly limited. High speed (8000mt/s+) cudimm memory would provide a meaningful performance boost over the ram in this deal, but would also be a few hundred dollars, so nowhere near worthwhile.
