I like to party and take this everywhere! It works particularly well on the beach & subway to overpower all the other beach goers / straphangers who feel compelled to drown out my peace with their music.

I never even seen this stumpy thing. Anyone able to compare it to something like the party box 120 or boombox or Xtreme?

The encore is no slouch but what you give up in sound, you gain in portability. I have 2 PartyBox 710, 2 PartyBox 520, a PartyBox 120 and the encore 2. They all have their own uses. Can't go wrong with this or any of the partyboxes. If you're deciding between the encore 2 and the 120 and size/money isn't an issue then the 120 all the way.

Agree - I have this encore 2 and partyBox 120 - sound quality and our most used at home is 120, but its absolutely not portable. Encore 2 is easiest to setup and carry for parties and karaoke,
