The truth is that It's not really meant to give you a new 100% charge. Assume if your phone usage is "150% per day", then this device would suffice in getting you throughout the day before you end at 10% on the nightstand charger before bedtime. The pros of having these new wave of slim chargers is that it makes your phone 100% usable while charging (instead of having a 10000/20000 charger in your pocket with a cable dangling throughout the day.
Suggestion: buy 2 of these and swap them out (so you'll always have a fully charged one ready to go).

UPDATE: so I used the other one (had bought 2) and lo and behold I got almost 70% on my iPhone in less than 2 hr charging and without excessive heat! So i would say this is a great product. will take the first one back to Best Buy. Bonus it comes with a short 60W cable which was able to charge the pack quickly.
