For some people whose orders didn't get cancelled, when they checked their order online (email confirmation said the $29 price), Apple ended up changing their order to the full price and charged their card without notice.

For anyone who received their AirTags, did Apple ended up charging you the full price without notice?

I ordered mine within minutes of the deal being posted (before 9AM ET). Mine shipped out yesterday and was delivered today. No emails other than the order placed and order shipped ones. I was billed $31.03 on my Apple Card (paid via Apple Pay). I just confirmed my order details and credit card charge (which fully posted, no more pending) both show $31.03.

Outside of rumor and speculation, I highly doubt anyone who had their order shipped was charged the full amount. Apple is well within their right to cancel price mistakes. They are not allowed to charge more after the fact, and they aren't that stupid or shady to try.

Mine's enroute, but no, they did not charge more.

I suspect some people just rushed to jump on this and didn't realize it was $99 in their cart during checkout.

Did anyone have issues getting refunded after paying with their Apple balance? I have the receipt saying it was $29 when I bought it, but I feel like they took an extra $70 out later. When they cancelled it, I think they only gave back the $29. I haven't found a full transaction history to confirm, only deductions and current balance.

I was one of the unfortunate ones that did NOT receive an e-mail from Apple cancelling the order (due to pricing error) and received my ONE airtag today. I immediately called Apple with a sob story but it fell on deaf ears, as I anticipated, but at least I tried. This was one time it didn't pay to be on the ball and act quickly on a (supposed) deal.

for apple to make adjustments from $29 to 99 they would have to manually input the amount which is also illegal to charge pricing after purchase, but some retailers do so regardless like target.

that being said those that did get their prices adjusted mostly bought dozens, if not hundreds of apple tags and not just 1 or 2 in a single order. smaller amounts had a better chance of fulfillment

The pending charge on Apple balance just went away. You can check any activities on your Apple Balance through the Wallet app

Wallet doesn't show all activities, only deductions. It does not show credits (like when I added gift cards) nor past balances. The cancelled order just disappeared, which is not how it should work. There should be a charge for my order (they took the money - my balance decreased) then a corresponding credit when the order was cancelled.
The original order was $29 + tax, and when I checked later it turned into $99 + tax, and I'm pretty sure my balance decreased another $70 (should have taken a screenshot of my balance when I placed the order - I only got a screenshot of the order itself). When the order was cancelled, my balance only went up the $29 + tax.
And since there is no past balance history (like "balance is $100.00 on Oct 31") I am expected to trust that Apple isn't screwing me over since there is no audit trail and I can't calculate the balance myself. I have not found a place online that has this full transaction history. I made a download request for my Wallet and Apple Store history, but that can take seven business days and I don't even know if that will have what I'm looking for.
I should have used a credit card then I wouldn't have to go through this hassle ☹️

This deal was a price mistake by Apple, which they corrected fairly quickly. Many people had their orders cancelled, but some did receive theirs particularly if they chose expedited shipping or did store pickup.
