This seems like an amazing deal especially because it's the non-OLED screen. What am I msising other than the AMD CPU being less ideal than the Intels on these?

You're not missing anything big; people might complain about the RAM being 16GB and not 32GB, but you can easily upgrade that down the road. They might complain about the less powerful or preferable processor but it's plenty efficient and capable enough in the given price bracket and set of specs.
I reckon in the next month we might see this for $100-150 less but if anyone wants to bite right now, this would be a good bet. HP has upped their game with the Omen MAX lineup.

This is a good deal. Not sure it's amazing, but it's definitely good. The CPU assuming you are comparing to like a Intel 7 255H is definitely a tier down on gaming/workload, but it's not a huge difference and the NPU on the AMD crushes the intel so it's a little more future proof for AI workloads if you care. For some reason Windows won't use a dedicated GPU for AI workloads, only a CPU integrated NPU.

One downside is if you don't think 16 GBs is enough ram, this is going to require a full 32+ kit to increase, whereas a lot of DDR5 laptops have been coming with a single stick of 16 allowing you to add just one stick. And ram prices have exploded (and show no signs of slowing down) over the past 30 days...

Agreed with everything you wrote especially the upped their game bit. The Omen Maxs FELT physically great in store to handle at MC, honestly on par with ASUS and at most one step behind Legion Pros on build quality. Think the only difference I noticed was the keyboard had more flex than the Legions do.

Agreed on the price, but I worry we are about to see upward pressure on laptop prices because of DDR jumping so much in cost. Cheapest 2x16 DDR5 from a reputable brand on Newegg or Amazon is 140 now. A month ago it was 70-75. Expectations are it will be 220-250 by March Frown

Thanks guys. I ended up going insane and ordered one of the monster 18" Lenovos w/ the glossy UHD+ screens

They're on sale right now for $3199 if you click into the specs and then act like you're leaving ( pops up a please don't go for an extra $100 off of the sales price )

Gets here Thursday, so pumped

I had one of these Omen Maxes a while back, build quality was amazing but I'd grabbed the OLED version and the text was just not quite legible enough to my eyes for coding, so I ended up returning it. That's what drew me to this one, the IPS

Thanks for the info, ultimately I ended up going with another option that I'd forgotten existed by Lenovo
