I bought this product and installed it on my new build. I was able to activate/access my existing OneDrive folders without any problems.
Is your OneDrive capacity 1TB or 5GB (Free account)? The 1TB plan comes subscription only (M365).
Anyone can get free 5GB account, all you need is a MS account. Anything over 5GB is typically a paid tier if you don't already have M365.

Edit: @N.K. should look and see what OneDrive plan they have. Once they load this new software, that is the plan that they should still have.

In the corporate world, you *could* buy a large quantity of individual license keys - nothing to prevent that, if you buy retail copies in bulk at a negotiated discount. I think they discontinued the "Open Business" license program but do have the "Open Value" program aimed at Small and Medium Business. The very vast majority of large organizations would be using either an Enterprise Agreement from Microsoft (EA) or a Cloud Services Provider (CSP) agreement, typically via a reseller/partner, but an EA could be direct. Volume License Keys under these programs use the same key for any given product across the organization either as a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Key Management Service (KMS) method, in part depending on if you paid for Software Assurance or not.
In all of these cases, the keys from these agreements are "not for resale" by organizations that buy them. Never mind the price points being clearly below legit pricing even at the highest volume license discount levels.
So it's a very valid question regarding the origins of the keys being sold - and ESPECIALLY if people are reporting that the SAME KEY is being given to everyone (indicating a volume license key now being in the wild). All of these key types, outside of individual, 100% unique keys from a "shrinkwrap" retail boxed products cannot be "resold" legitimately. Can the volume keys "work"? Absolutely. Is it "legit" to sell them? Nope. Everyone is free to imagine the scenario that makes keys like this available at pricing like this. I've not seen anyone imagine a legit scenario, but what do I know.
YMMV over the life of using these licenses. MS can easily revoke it (effectively halting updates, limiting features, nag screen for unregistered product, etc.) and there's no recourse if they do. It's not their business if you paid someone else money for it in an authorized sale. None of the keys in those programs are licensed for for resale. None of them.
