What do you mean? If you're talking about the paddle price, this APP directly competes with the likes of ~$300 paddles offering the same performance for half the cost. It's been my main paddle for about 6 months now and I really like the touch/feel (good pop but not over the top), power, and spin. They also have a great $90 paddle (Jelly bean) that smokes almost every entry level paddle in the market.

A $30 paddle usually works the same as these "performance" paddles. Just a way to make boomers feel like they are professionals after spending on these paddles.
totally agree. My wife and I recently played a game with some highschool kids (they were a couple months into playing). They asked to try our paddles (my 11six APP and her Paddletech) for a couple games. We switched and used their $5 wooden Tmobile paddles. We won 11-1, and 11-4 before they gave up. LOL

Not really, but I agree with your general sentiment. It is definitely ~80-90% the player's skill, with the remainder being supported by the paddle. Paddle construction/design has really come a long way over the last two years and can help people hit with more power, have better feel for the ball, and support dink battles depending how much pop a player likes/needs. I have 6 paddles in the household currently, and can substantially feel differences in all of them. With that said, the $35 Alibaba paddles from Juciao are really great (i've had 2); the downside is that they break down extremely fast; 4 and 6 months respectively where the entire paddle face core crushes or develops huge dead spots. I've convinced multiple friends to buy the Juciaos as well and every single one of them have had the same experience with longevity. The Alpha Power is built using thicker walls in the honeycomb core and i'm convinced it has increased it's overall durability. I've been using it for 8 months, in 2 hour sessions, 3 times a week and it performs no different than the first day I got it.

one big downside of temu/aliexpress paddles is that if you like to play tournaments, they are not technically legal.
I've been playing with such paddles for 2 years and haven't had any core crushed...

To be frank most of us don't play top professionnal tournaments that check legality of paddle. Even rtournaments we play local level don't check paddles.
Boomstik is pure hype. Its a good paddle, just not worth $300. Vatic, Loco, and others performed just as well at a fraction of the price.
I have a Vatic lol. I played with the Boomstick and totally noticed a stronger hit on everything. Spin was better too but I think that was to be expected since it's brand new with brand new grit.
Personal preference, but IMO yes. Depends what you're looking for though... Boomstick is foam paddle unlike the APP which has polypropylene hex core surrounded by foam. There are other solid contenders to compete with the boomstick for much better value: J2NF from Honolulu, the B&B loco, and a couple others

I've been to a tournament in Palm Springs that checked my father in laws paddle and made him switch, so it definitely happens, but at a very low rate. Also depends on the opponents; was beating the guy he was playing against when the check was requested; but as mentioned earlier, him being forced to switch to his backup paddle didn't make any difference in the outcome of the match.

Cool! Can you name some others with similar power? I'm going to need to do some research
