This Knipex 8 piece precision circlip pliers set is praised as a high quality, Germany made option that feels great in hand and stays stiff with heavy circlips. The textured handles are comfortable, even with oily hands, and the set can reach ring layouts that cheaper alternatives cannot. The main drawback is price, with comparisons pointing to lower cost ICON sets and Harbor Freight options for lighter use. It stands out most for frequent circlip work and tighter, heavier duty jobs.
Mechanics working on heavy circlips, because the tips stay stiff without deflection or slop under load.
Frequent circlip users who want a hand-friendly tool, because the handles feel comfortable and textured for oily hands.
Buyers who want a premium snap-ring set that holds up in regular use, because the pliers feel precise, well balanced, and do not deform easily.
Technicians needing a full circlip set for tight-access rings, because the set includes a pair that fits holes spaced very close together.
Users expecting bargain-level performance from a circlip set, because the cheaper ICON set can deform and have mismatched tips.
Occasional DIYers who only need snap-ring pliers a few times, because cheaper lifetime-warranty alternatives can be better value.
People using lighter snap rings only, because cheaper pliers may be fine when the rings are weak.
Shoppers who want a tool that stays looking clean, because the dipped handles can get a distressed, dirty look and are hard to wipe back to new.

The Icons have ability to perform the same jobs just aswell.
Neither brand is going to break or wear out doing it's job.
The Icon often go on sale for 30-40% off.
That being said, Knipex is a great brand, a really good one.
Their pliers and wire strippers are the top in the business and I would recommend only a few tools they make: Wire strippers (Forged and Autogun), Cobras, Mini pliers, plier wrench, and that's about it. Nothing else is worth it besides those tools.
Everything else you can get from any of the Japanese shops;vessel/pbswiss for screwdrivers, ko-ken for ratchet and nut grip sockets, neopro/snapon for ratchets, mitutoyo, starrett and for precision measurement, picard and gedore for hammers, gransfors bruks for hatchets, bruce spruce for chisels, hotley for hand planes, martinez for framing, flukes for electrical, never klein. leica for laser, engineer for solder suckers, etc
gearwrench, Harbor Freight, PB swiss, anything highly rated from Project Farm, etc. Gone are the days of overpriced Snapon and Knipex makes every tool the best because they dont; Many companies make a certain tool (flagship) very well, but not every single one.
Are they a great brand? Yes
Reliable? One of the best in the business? High quality? Yes
Do they sell overpriced tools? Yes
Now for the reason questions:
Do most people need Snap Ring Pliers? Like yourself?
No > Then what are you doing here?
Yes > Do you need Snap Ring Pliers more than a few times in your lifetime?
No > Buy HF
Yes > Buy HF with a lifetime warranty (ICON, Quinn, etc doesnt matter really, they are lifetime warranty, walk in, exchange, all that matters is how they feel in your hand).
Harbor Freight now has the best warranty on tools in the business. You can literally destroy your tool, come in, exchange it out the same minute and leave. End of story. Just don't wear a work uniform when going in to claim warranty cause they might deny you on 'professional' use. HF tools have also come a very long way from cheap garbage to decent garbage to I can work with this ICON as long as you are paying 1/10th the price.
Are you an mechanic? No, See above.
Are you an mechanic that isn't currently being robbed by the Snap On Tool truck that comes by every paycheck to take half your check?
Yes > You can buy this otherwise you probably already have Snap On Ring Pliers.
No, I just have a lot of discretionary money to spend and want nice tools > Choose either or brand.
Perspective matters.

Channellock Diagonals at 1/4 of the price is easier to cut with and has lasted longer and cuts better and doesn't get damaged as easily than any * > 6in Knipex cutter, a Fujiya is also much better than a knipex cutter and a 3rd of the price.
Their linemans also are not that great but for putting a hole in your pocket.
To those reading, majority of people here don't even own multiple knipex tools or have even worked in a professional environment with tools so take their words as such. They just love flouting around the idea of a nice feeling, good looking tool.
I would bet that majority of people here arguing do not even own the tool they are discussing. If thats you and you are speaking on a specific tool that you dont own or never have owned, then realize this (if you can self reflect that is) you are just a fan boy, simple as that.

They're the best circlip pliers I've ever used. They get used frequently as I have a collection of various British sports cars, a couple Alfa Romeos, and a Kioti tractor/loader/backhoe that always needs something. These precision Knipex circlip pliers just feel great in hand, no excess mass, well per-portioned, stiff in that they don't deflect with heavy circlips, don't have any noticeable slop in the pivot. They're just great.
The only thing I dislike about them, along with all of Knipex's standard dipped handles, is that they get that distressed / dirty look quite easily and because of the texture, it is hard to get the dipped handle looking new again. Would prefer a smooth dip, that would wipe clean easily after use.
I'm not a Knipex fan boy, but I've had tons of terrible circlip pliers in my lifetime, and these are just a treat to use.
K-Nip-Ex, not Nip-Ex?
No silent K here.

You linked to a set of 3 Cobra water pump pliers, not a set of 8 circlip pliers. The price at the company you linked to, for the set of 8 circlip pliers is $192.11.
