The i7-6700 slightly outperforms the i5-7500, but they're 10 and 8 years old, respectively. The Ultra 5 225 outperforms both by a wide margin and is a modern processor, released in Q1 of this year.

The main problems I see with the refurbished one are, as UniqueMagic721 pointed out, it doesn't come with an OS (and doesn't support Windows 11). The second is it has a traditional mechanical hard drive rather than an SSD, so it's going to be much slower loading apps, booting up, and slower in general.

I also don't think it's comparable, as garth25 said.

They have refurb Dell Optiplex 5050 i5, 8g ram, 500g hdd for only $75, $67.50 shipped after new user discount from discountcomputerdepot.com. No OS but a pretty nice and comparable setup. I just snagged one and put Win11 and Linux Mint on it this week.

Here's a link. if anyone wants one. I got the $5 off new customer discount and some other discount just automatically populated and wiped out the sales tax. Shipping was free. It's a pretty similar setup to this one. https://discountcomputerdepot.com...ng-system/

Doesn't look like it because this desktop doesn't use a standard, off-the-shelf ATX power supply (PSU); it uses a proprietary Dell power supply.

I'm interested but probably overkill for me since I'm just looking for a Windows desktop for light photo and video editing. Although I do remember some great HP deals around BF last year. Will wait.

Can the graphics card be switched out if need be?

Wow this has a very low wattage power supply at 180W. Do not buy this if you plan to do any serious gaming. You might get away with an RTX 3050 6GB but not much more due to the small PSU.

The graphics are built into the Intel processor therefor can't be removed. You may add a low power graphics card but the card would probably have to draw 75 watts of power or less.

Thanks for the advice but this PC doesn't look like a gaming PC to me.

I have win 11 running on it now. There are versions of win 11 that skip the hardware check. It's a complete non-issue.

I guess it depends on your definition of comparable. Most people will never use 90% of the overkill features they paid almost $500 extra for. It's not a gaming machine, it's just an average office desktop. In the scheme of things, it's just an average priced computer, not a deal.
