I just read an article from Toms Hardware talking about this. The simple answer is high demand and low production. The reason for low production is pretty much what The_Love_Spud said. Manufacturers are focusing on making the RAM used in the servers hosting AI and simultaneously phasing out DDR4. They need to increase production of DDR5 to meet demand, but that's not going to happen overnight and it isn't the immediate focus because the demand for that server RAM is so high. The aforementioned article said prices probably won't come down until 2027 or 2028.

Maybe they need to clear old stock before it goes bad. Otherwise, it's a fairly cheap item that could make people think it's a better deal. Plus, it's probably better than what AMD includes in the CPU retail box.
