not entirely sure haven't really examined build quality. they have them on display at microcenter. i'm opting in for the 4-year allstate protection plan.

Just letting anybody know who buys this thing that this is an absolute nightmare to open. If you plan on upgrading this thing to 32gb or ram plan on pulling your hair out. The poor design makes this almost not worth buying.

Better than Acer, Dell and HP. Worse than Lenovo and Asus.

You cant compare build quality by brands. There are different models, for example some Dells or HPs will be built way better than this particular MSI.

I have a 4 or 5 year old MSI low end gaming laptop, it gets used regularly (work, gaming), and has held up well. I upgraded the HD and RAM, wasn't that difficult to open it up to do so, but can't speak to this model. I think you get good bang for your buck with MSI, but obviously not as well built as Lenovo, but the price reflects that.

Can confirm. I currently have a MSI Crosshair 18HX. It took me a lot of patience to slowly pry mine open. The problem lies with its plastic construction and the fact that the rear section envelopes the heatsinks. Plastic means one has to be real careful not to bend/break anything. The rear bracket means even with plastic prying tools, there is not much leverage and can result in bent fins. Although, that can easily remedied by carefully realign them back.
But still, it is doable. The same can not be said of the Lenovo Yoga. It has a hidden clip in the middle that I simply do not know how to release.

This is exactly what I'm looking for other than not having 32GB DDR5 RAM, which I'd be happy to upgrade, but y'all make it sound like it's not worth the hassle 😞
