Just letting anybody know who buys this thing that this is an absolute nightmare to open. If you plan on upgrading this thing to 32gb or ram plan on pulling your hair out. The poor design makes this almost not worth buying.

You cant compare build quality by brands. There are different models, for example some Dells or HPs will be built way better than this particular MSI.

Doesn't seem too hard to open once you follow the steps in this video. https://youtu.be/rMRMm0aJPD8?si=LtEAogYR04xHQFcC

not entirely sure haven't really examined build quality. they have them on display at microcenter. i'm opting in for the 4-year allstate protection plan.
Yes, MSI Gaming line in particular has terrible build quality and has had terrible build quality for at least a decade. Their ultra premium gaming laptops are garbage on build quality compared to even a HP Victus or Legion 5 non pro.

Better than Acer, Dell and HP. Worse than Lenovo and Asus.
This is unfortunately not true in the gaming lines. I have heard nothing but praise for the business and creator MSIs, but the gaming MSI build quality is garbage to a comical degree. 4 thousand dollar laptops that creak when you pick them up brand new. Screens that flex even when opening with two hands.

In the current gen having put my hands on most major brands and models the build quality "order" is basically Legion>ASUS/HP/Alienware(no direct experience with AW, but heard good things on them)>>>>>>Acer>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MSI.

does this use a vapor chamber or liquid metal? id actually prefer more easily replaceable thermal compound solutions.

they were much better when they had the SteelSeries keyboards. i bought a Pulse last year which is lower end, about $700 and have to agree with your characterization.

i agree. it's impossible to rely on brand alone. best bet is to go to a store to check out displays.

The model was one of the better cooling ones for the 4080 version. I would not hesitate to buy.

Is this gaming laptop a good choice even though it's from Walmart? Also, has anyone had experience with the Allstate warranty?

Just ordered. Yeah it looks like a pain to dissemble and it only has 16GB of ram but after enough videos reviewing it I'm sold.

Have you tried suction cups? They have small ones for electronics on amazon. I've opened hundreds of laptops and it's perfect for plastic bottom panels that can flex. Put it in the middle, secure, and pull. The panel will flex and pull the plastic locking tabs inward and away from the locks safely opening without breaking anything. This works for me on 9.5/10 laptops

Allstate warranty on a Walmart purchase for a laptop wanted me to procure a quote from a tech company for what it would cost to repair the problem. Pictures of the swollen battery distorting the whole plastic case and making the keyboard and mousepad unusable was not enough.
