You don't ride this train to save money. You ride this train to save your sanity by not having to deal with traffic on i70 and berthoud pass. I70 this year is gonna suck even more than previous years due to the extra construction from the widening projects.

What are people's thoughts on taking this train versus just driving? The train is about $38 round trip + transit to union station. With two people it's about the same cost as renting a car.

Thanks, you convinced me. I assume $19 OW is a pretty good deal. Any idea what the typical price is for these tickets?

Random question - are there toilets on these trains or people just hold it for a few hours?

I wasn't on this train in particular, but yes they have toilets on these trains. Think airplane toilets but with more turbulence lol

I rode this train last season from Denver to Salt Lake City stopping in Winter Park and Glenwood Springs. It is seriously such a cool and beautiful ride. Highly recommend. World's largest hot springs in Glenwood Springs is worth stopping for a night, hotel and hot springs are walking distance from train station.

Yeah the bathrooms are fine. It has a lounge car with a full service bar and awesome views/couches, a restaurant car and nice sleeping areas.

Transit to Union Station should probably also be on RTD. Minimal cost, though if you're bringing your own skis & gear at least a little bit of hassle. But even via bus, avoiding the drive to & from is worthwhile, let alone the cost to park nearby.
