The newest gen model is like the one sold at costco for $129.99, model SDSSDE52-2TOO-AC46 is part of the "extreme" line and has a maximum write speed of up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds
To each their own, but for the small price difference, the Extreme model is better. But I guess if you're on a budget, then this is just ok.

There is no official, company-wide SanDisk recall, but a class-action lawsuit alleges certain Extreme and Extreme Pro Portable SSDs and WD My Passport SSDs have a design and manufacturing defect that leads to spontaneous data loss. While Western Digital (SanDisk's parent company) released a firmware update in May 2023, some experts and consumers report it doesn't fix the underlying hardware problem, and replacement drives have also allegedly failed. Affected models include the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V2, SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V2, and WD My Passport SSD lines, with the 4TB models being particularly affected.
