These have a nice ergonomic form factor. You would think that wouldn't matter but it does

fyi, this is for the older generation Sandisk SSD, model SDSSDE30-2T00-G26 - part of the "portable line" and only reaches up to 800 MB/s maximum write speed.

The newest gen model is like the one sold at costco for $129.99, model SDSSDE52-2TOO-AC46 is part of the "extreme" line and has a maximum write speed of up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds

To each their own, but for the small price difference, the Extreme model is better. But I guess if you're on a budget, then this is just ok.

For the record...BJs usually makes you pay tax on the FULL amount, before the sale price. They say you're buying the item at the full price, including tax, and then get an instant rebate. I presume that that extra tax you're paying goes directly in their pocket.

Thanks. I checked Costco and saw a lot of sudden failure complaints. Have not checked to see if the posted drive also has many sudden failure complaints.

those are old. they already fixed that issue with a firmware update. was an issue for a different model, specifically their 4TB models.

There is no official, company-wide SanDisk recall, but a class-action lawsuit alleges certain Extreme and Extreme Pro Portable SSDs and WD My Passport SSDs have a design and manufacturing defect that leads to spontaneous data loss. While Western Digital (SanDisk's parent company) released a firmware update in May 2023, some experts and consumers report it doesn't fix the underlying hardware problem, and replacement drives have also allegedly failed. Affected models include the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V2, SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V2, and WD My Passport SSD lines, with the 4TB models being particularly affected.

Are these just NVME drives in an enclosure? Can the NVME be popped out to install in a mini? Thanks
