Pretty crazy price for a new laptop with the 258v.

Same chip in the MSI Claw 8 AI+ so it is good for some light gaming as well

Ideally for Revit you want a dedicated GPU. I just bought this for my son, I think this would work better for you but it's like $1000 but has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, and the best OLED display I have ever seen on a laptop 2880 x 1800. It's really a great deal for the money. The fan will get loud when you're maxing it out (but it's also configurable), make sure you do all of the updates. 30day return window. https://ebay.us/m/u1r7Zi

I bought the ASUS Vivobook 14 Flip OLED, Intel Core Ultra 7 256v, 16GB DDRTX, 1TB for $700 before tax. (It was the costco deal recently)
I am a Mechanical Engineering student, do you think that this laptop would do better because it has 32GB? Also I heard Acer is not really good and reliable, so would this laptop be better than the laptop I have?

I'm an ME and would say the extra RAM and better processor is worth it if you can return and switch, I don't build super big assemblies in SW anymore but generally speaking the hardware in modern machines far exceeds the demands of what most engineers require - this is a huge contrast to when I started using Pro/E 20 years ago

It would be better for AI stuff. The Intel arc drivers let you assign a greater amount of the shared RAM to the GPU so with 32gb you could assign 24 to the GPU and run models typically targeted for an RTX 4090. It's slower than the RTX, but definitely usable. I was getting around 20 tokens/second without trying any optimizations.

They had the ultra 5/16gb version of this at $500 few months ago. It's a decent build utility laptop. However, the screen is pretty poor in terms of both brightness and accuracy. If you're connecting to external monitors most of the time, shouldn't be a concern. Pretty light weight.

Currently have a 8845HS, this is probably just a side grade, right? The Intel being slightly better single core performance and slightly worse multi core. AMD might have a tiny edge on the iGPU as well.

But that 32GB though.....

This should have better battery life.

258v is the same processor as the 256v but just with 32 GB of ram. The 266v & 268v are the next step up but it's very marginal.

Just checked out your link but I don't see any mentions of any dedicated GPU. Very disappointed I was ready to jump all over it if it had a 4070. I just bought an Asus vivo book with the ultra 9 and the OLED. But has 3050 which is my main issue with it. However I did upgrade my ram to 56gb so idk why I'm even looking to buy another laptop haha. But the high resolution OLED and the 4070 had me ready to buy it as long as ram was upgradable.

It's a 4070, I don't think you can upgrade the RAM though https://store.acer.com/en-us/swif...4-72g-7422
