^Posted this in the other forum. Michelin put out a statement a few days ago saying the CC3s won't be replacing the CC2s for the next several years in North America.

Thanks for that info and that stinks. I guess Michelin is thinking that as long as the Crossclimate 2s are still selling then there's no need to release the upgraded version. My current set of Crossclimate 2s are approaching 50k miles and need to be replaced soon so I won't be waiting for the Crossclimate 3s anymore.

This is expected. These use winter rubber so are less efficient but more grip. Alternatively you can buy two different sets for winter and rest of year.

You should be fine. You can usually go up or down one size in width or profile as long as the diameter stays the same.

Discount tire states this should fit my car, but that doesn't seem right. I have a Mazda CX-5 with the 225/65 R17. Anyone know if these fit as some sites have been saying yes and others have been saying no.

True, but going smaller will result in your speedometer showing faster than you are actually going, which will also slowly put more mileage than actual on the car. Then on the flip, going larger will show you going slower that actual speed, and again slowly showing less mileage than actual.

I ordered the tires online with a price match and military discount, and when I went in the store for the install, they asked if I was a AAA member, asked for my card, and then took another 5% off. Then when I declined the certs, they discounted them by 50%. They only recently opened in my area, so maybe they are doing more promotions or something.

As an aside, since there weren't stores in my area before, I had ordered from Discount Tire Direct online. When I called them a year and a half after I bought the tires because I had a sidewall bubble and needed to replace one, they let me buy the certs then and use one for the replacement (a year and a half after my purchase and after I had road hazard damage).

"Cross Climate" tires are the best All Weather - "3 Peak" rated tire made. I put them on a daughter's car almost 4 years ago in Midwest & Montana Winters. Just bought the new Cross Climate 2's for two other daughters cars in the last month. They aren't cheap but they are the best thing in the snow next to a dedicated ice & snow tire like an "X-Ice" or Blizzak.
Discount Tire will price match so keep an eye out for deals.

These are different classes of tires.

The Defenders are your standard all season tires built for tread life. So if tread life is your priority, get the Defenders.

The Crossclimate 2's are all weather tires that are Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified (you can trust these tires in severe winters). Defenders are great in wet braking but the crossclimates are even better.
