Also not sure if $1099 is a true MSRP for this so the discount could be a faux discount if the MSRP is not realistically the $1099. This has Invictus written all over it.

garmin is probably the best fitness watch there is, with longest battery life for a always on screen. i have the Epix (none pro, none sapphire) 47 mm for a few years, and i spent 600 dollar when it was on sale, still use it daily.
that said, if you aren't using the fitness function of the watch, and only expect a smart watch and are okay with charging it daily, then i wouldn't recommend garmin anything. they are just about the worst smart watch out there. the processor used on those watch are far worse than first generation android watch (which is dated before google wear OS ) from a decade ago.

However I just recently got the Samsung Watch Ultra 2025 (charging is not an issue as I have the watch charger on my home office desk and in the laundry room USB charging station). I do want smartwatch features such as spotify, whatsapp, text messaging and calls while out and about (using LTE with the watch).
Does Garmin offer all that? I was looking at the new Forerunner 970 (2025)

But then I fully understand different strokes for different folks. Some wants ability to stream, some just want to be outdoors without having to worry about charging the watch every 12 hours.

you, on the other hand, sounds like never truly used any other smart watch to know the difference between supporting app vs supporting the app well.
