I'm lucky to be grandfathered into the Blink cloud and don't have to subscribe. Older versions would allow local storage without subscription. It looks like they dropped that from the newer sync modules. Blink cameras are decent. Resolution is good, but not amazing. They seem to be getting better with each generation.

These systems are useful to watch the house and check in on things. I do not see the police using this to solve any crimes. But they are good for seeing who is at the door and if the dogs are tearing up the house. My Blink doorbell is having some issues - which started by me breaking the locking tab on the mount. Seems like $30 to replace/upgrade isn't bad. I have to spring for the wedge to make it work as the old wedge isn't comparable with the Upgraded Doorbell.

The latest Sync module has no option for Local Storage; Blink is forcing customers to get a subscription! crap!
